Just had a tasty dinner.... a good friend of mine who works in a restaurant was experimenting with some new dishes and entrees. She made me two very small servings of stuffed salmon filets. They were stuffed with spinach and a ricotta style cheese. I also made a small potato to go with them. I will give her good marks on this effort.  The filet was moist with a generous amount of spinach.

Needless to say, I am stuffed :)

More thoughts on the movies. That visit to the RKO Keith theater to see PETER PAN was the last time the whole family went to an indoor theater.(Tho my Nana did take me to see Pinnochio)All the other family trips were to the Drive-in which was a great bargain for families in those days, as children under 12 were admitted free. By the age of six, I was allowed to take the bus downtown(WITH NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS)to the Keith or the Strand(which had the films about 4 months after they hit Boston(tho you had to wait over a year for roadshows like Ben-Hur, West Side Story, etc.)The Rialto got the films after the first 2 theaters, and we weren't allowed in the Royal 'cause it was rumored to have rats and was in a tough neighborhood.I always feel a little sorry for children who never got to sit in those big theaters for their movies.

The earliest movie (not at home on TV) experience that I can remember is when we lived in Germany (my dad was in the Army) when I was four or five years old.  I remember a bunch of us (kids and adults) walking to the local base theater and we saw "Song of the South."  I don't remember the movie itself, other than a couple of songs, but that's the one that I can remember.

Jane, yesterday you asked:
Quote
George, are you still walking?

Well...not as often as I should.  I've had to run errands during lunch (like today) or leave right after work.  And yesterday, it rained, so I couldn't.  But unless it rains again, I plan to walk the rest of the week. :)

Back from the tour of the Steinway factory in Astoria [actually Long Island City], Queens.  It was really fabulous.

You understand why they cost what they do and why they retain the reputation they have.  And the Steinways were pioneering in many ways...a very interesting family and business.

One of the best things was seeing the "Selection Room" - a room designed with special acoustical properties - which can be adjusted, as well.  There are about 10 or 12 different Steinway models, which concert artists can play to narrow down their selection.  The tour takes about 2.5 hours and includes several miles of walking and stairs.  The passion and skill and craftsmanship of those who work there is remarkable.

I've never been to the Steinway Hall showroom in Manhattan; I guess it's time I did so!  But I highly recommend the tour.

I'm not sure which musical was my first.  I think it might have been CATS. Because i remember going with my mom and sister and grandmother when I was little.

I also remember my parents taking us to LES MIS and PHANTOM of THE OPERA.

But my real interest in musical theatre started when i saw Chita Rivera on tour in KISS OF THE SPIDERWOMAN.

I've had a full afternoon of viewing delights. Well, some of it was delightful.

I did get the second season box set of BONES, and I watched two episodes. The first one involved the seeming death of a politician hit by a train. Of coruse, the case ended up being about something (and someone) totally different. Tamara Taylor joined the cast as Brennan's boss at the Jeffersonian.

The second BONES episode involved the discovery of two sets of remains: a mother and what appeared to be her child. Excellent episode, and I remember being so shocked by the outcome when it was finally revealed.

Next, I watched the three remaining episodes in the POWER RANGERS DVD set.

The Rangers are searching for five jewels which fit in a magic crown which would give the powers of evil unlimited power if they discover them. Each of the Ranger sets involves the search for one jewel. The first jewel was a pearl which, of course, was finally located in the Caribbean in the set's sixth episode.

The set6 also included in the bonux features two games for fans of the show. One involved a trivia quiz based on the episodes in the set. The other was a search puzzle attempting to find the pearl on a grid using logic and deduction. Fun little games and a bit more mature than are typically featured on Disney sets geared for kids.

Next, I zoomed through today's episode of AS THE WORLD TURNS. The gay storyline wasn't on today's show but was featured in the previews for tomorrow's episode.

Rather than starting a new BONES episode or watching last night's SAVING GRACE, I went to TNT-HD and watched the last half hour of a very good LAW & ORDER episode that featured Richard Masur as an egotistical judge who supressed evidence when he was a prosecutor so that he could win a case and get an appointment to the bench.
