More thoughts on the movies. That visit to the RKO Keith theater to see PETER PAN was the last time the whole family went to an indoor theater.(Tho my Nana did take me to see Pinnochio)All the other family trips were to the Drive-in which was a great bargain for families in those days, as children under 12 were admitted free. By the age of six, I was allowed to take the bus downtown(WITH NEIGHBORHOOD KIDS)to the Keith or the Strand(which had the films about 4 months after they hit Boston(tho you had to wait over a year for roadshows like Ben-Hur, West Side Story, etc.)The Rialto got the films after the first 2 theaters, and we weren't allowed in the Royal 'cause it was rumored to have rats and was in a tough neighborhood.I always feel a little sorry for children who never got to sit in those big theaters for their movies.
