Soon I will have to drive Dear Mother's van to pick her up from her reunion dinner. I dropped her and her Jazzi off at 5:30, by this time, the dining should be done (Chicken Cordon Bleu or Beef Wellington) following hors oeuvres, speeches and music (by my cousin-in-law cop who moonlights as a deejay).

td 57 is an odd number to have a reunion. Do they have one every year? Either way, it is very nice & I hope she had a wonderful evening.

They agreed after the 55th, that since they're not getting any younger, to do one at two and three year intervals, hence the next one will be the 60th in 2010. . . .

Hopefully all of the shows went/are going well ... and we will get lots of photos and information about them shortly.

I am watching THE SUN ALSO RISES.....lovely film....not Hemingway to be sure....but very nice to watch.

You take a nice eye of round. Roast it until tender. Let cool. Cube cooled meat or pull apart into nice sized chunks.
To the pan drippings add cider vinegar and pickling spices. Fold in corn starch or flour dissolved in water until thickened as gravy. Add meat.
Let sit overnight in fridge. Serve over glace* the next day.

*Glace are a kind of heavy, boiled potato dumpling, filled with buttered toast squares.
