JMK, any bootlegs of your recent musical forays?

It's glorious outside today. What a perfect day to shop for stoves!

I just discovered one of the problems with our current Jenn-Air when we tried to cook biscuits this morning. Only the top heating element works, so while the biscuits were well-done on the top, the bottom wasn't brown at all! And no, it wasn't set on broil. One more reason to get a new stove!

When we TALLIED OUR lists of anagrams, we found that none of us could make a strictly DUOLITERAL anagram of the word DUOLITERAL - the best any of us could come up with was "LO, I RUT ED.  LA!" which sounded rude.

Actually, a bi-lingual French/English man driving with Amy blurted out:

Allo, Edi--RUT!!!

Call me crazy (and who amongst you hasn't), but I'm finding I prefer progressive scan off with HDTVs.  I never really liked it with our Sharp Aquos and I outright hate it on with the Samsung.  For some reason the LCD technology doesn't "like" progressive scan and every few seconds things get a little blurry or the brightness changes.

Then again, I guess it could be the DVD player, but it's a fairly high end Sony.  Maybe it's their revenge for Beta.

Hi folks!  I'm typing this from my niece, Debi's computer.  I made it safe and sound to Pittsburgh last night.  It is cold but not as bad as I thought it would be.  Kinda like a Florida cold.

TD. I told Debi that you and I would like to have a mini meeting and she said she would be glad to take me where ever.  I will be calling you after we visit Mom's grave.  We will be going there in just a little while.

I've just spoken to DR Danise and we're going to meet up between 2 and 3 today!
Of course I asked her if we would all be bringing our cameras, and we are going to take pictures, and hopefully post them later this evening.

Lordy, Lordy, I'm already in enough trouble around here without providing bootlegs.  ;)

Well, instead of heading to Pittsburgh this afternoon :-\, I will be heading down to Union Square with my roommate, Jim, his boyfriend and his father (Jim's father that is - he's visiting this weekend).  We're gonna be grabbing some brunch some place - maybe just pick and choose from the Green Market offerings - and then do some shopping.  I'm pretty sure I'll just be observing the shopping today, although, since we'll be in the vicinity of the Chocolate Show, well...  And J&R's Classical CD Department is also having it's grand-reopening today, and they're "celebrating" with a department-wide sale, so...  We shall see.

Marvelous Matt just came by mid-post. I, of course, thought it was the guys outside selling firewood, and yelled out the window, "Don't need firewood." He was here with my bill. It came in just a few dollars less than the number I was hoping it'd be. For all he did this was a BARGAIN.

And, of course, there was one "And while you're here, could you fix..." Which he did.

The house looks wonderful. when I have a few minutes I'll try to post some pics.

I have a request for any DR who can help me: I need a cassette tape transfwrred to CD, no time limit, no pressure.  Menotti's wonderful OLD MAID AND THE THIEF has never been inssued on CD and I have a great cassette of it with Judith Blegen and John Reardon.  Does anyone have the means to accomplish this?  Thanks!

Thanks, DR JoseSPiano.  Yes, I knew the LaMott stuff had been "in the works" for years; I was just surprised to see it apparently actually available, not having heard about them from any of the usual sources lately.

And Entertainment Weekly solved another mystery - the move Diva is apparently being re-released to theatres on its 25th anniversary, hence the media noise about it.

DR singdaw - That "new" Nancy Lamott compilation has been in the works for a while.  Jonathan Schwartz (of WNYC) and David Friedman have been dealing with right's issues, timing, contracts, etc. - as well as the Midder Music business mess.

I don't think it's available for sale stateside - at least not legally - (although, who knows, Colony Music may have it ;)), but maybe they were able to work out overseas distribution rights.

I spoke to David Friedman. You can order the new Nancy LaMott's from Australia but they won't be available to ship until Mid February

CD from BK today!!  Bruce, as a lifelong (well, nearly) Michel Colombier fan, a small but powerful niche for good, thanks so much for releasing this.

Ha! I told myself I'd take some time off--I did so, but spent three or four days just catching up on errands and laundry!

You're quite right about the SHOULD part, though. Why is having a balanced life so difficult??

Don't mind me--I'm just worn out!

If I take a nap, the doggies climb on top of me.

Sounds like a good idea.

Besides, I've got dinner to think about.

And Claiborne's memoir to finish.

And MaHH to read.

(A letter to my Dad and Step-Mom has already been written and sent.)
