And sometimes you just have to take a picture of something when you see it...

Yes, you do.

Seen on Western Avenue on the way to bk's book signing:

Mikey, the thought of you capable of frightening anyone away makes me chuckle.

Nursie, you have no idea! I can walk into any gym in Manhattan and yell "Michael Barnum" and hundreds of men in towels run through the streets to escape. Oy!

Look what I found.  Not sure about the accent, and the two boys at the end are outre, but still, fun to see:

DR singingnymph, welcome back!

I've just had some scrumptious tamales. Yum!

BTW, for L.A.-types, I'm in Manhattan Beach now!

Hi, singingnymph!

I was just in Manhattan Beach (I like to call it "Man Beach") at this time last week. We had breakfast twice (not in the same day!) at Le Pain Quotidien. We loved it; even got sandwiches from there to take on the plane with us.

If they opened one of these in Atlanta, it would be a hit, I'm sure!

Nice to see you!

I thing you scrambled the digits - it was 438 years (according to the ASSOCIATED PRESS.Anybody irked with your board who let this guy out?

Even better. And yes, we are all quite irked.

And I shan't even tell you about the news story we had yesterday regarding a released person reoffending. It is too disgusting.

It's been a very busy day at work...lots of ordering, and many more books to order, still.

This morning I watched two more episodes of DIRT. The Jack Dawson (he-man action star found out to be gay) was resolved, and Don Konkey got a real girl friend, played by the actress who is the British junior attorney on BOSTON LEGAL.

:D THAT'S WHERE I'VE SEEN HER BEFORE!!  When Tara Summers joined "Boston Legal," I thought that she looked SO familiar...but of course, I didn't think to look her up on IMDb.com.

Of course, she also looks a LOT like Mayim Bialik, so I was wondering if that was it:

Did you notice a lot of men coming to visit their dearly departed relatives frequently?

When my sister, niece and I went to London in 2001, they wanted to visit some real old cemeteries...just because.  We found one near our hotel and I noticed that there were quite a few single men just walking around, looking at us, looking each other...and then they'd just be gone. :o

Oy, what a day.  I played the "holiday party" of a hoity-toity law firm, at a hoity-toity restaurant, where I had to shlep all my equipment (so to speak).  I'm too old for this sort of thing.

BK, Caetano Veloso is definitely an acquired taste and he seems to appeal more to women, in the strange Julio Iglesias kind of way (though Veloso is a better singer, IMHO, and obviously a brilliant composer).  Caetano's sister Maria Bethania sounds like a Brasilian Cher--in fact, considering Caetano's higher register, they could easily do a Sonny & Cher bossa nova bit.  ;)

I'm going to have dinner with my little French boy and his colleague tonight. We're going to jct---we tried to go last time he was here but it was booked up.

It's nice that you can make reservations online!

Good morning, all!  I've sent DR tomovoz my email birthday wishes and I've checked my bank balance, so I can begin the day with a trek to the Post Offie.  My branch opens at 8 and I want to be one of the first ones in to mail my packages.  I'm a bit down today: my father would have turned 86 today.

My other plans for today include laundry and the NYPL Music Collection, and I look forward to both.

BK, I too don't understand the SHOW BOAT delay; I thought the DVD had been announced over a year ago.  I love the 1936 film, whenever Helen Morgan walks on camera it's a moment both magical and tragic, and the cast is so fantastic.

TOD:
DVD: Hairspray, Knocked Up which I've been meaning to see forever, Brothers & Sisters season 1
CD:  Kathleen Battle, Marilyn Horne, and other holiday CDs
VCR:  I hope Santa will be good; this porn is stale!

My thoughts are with you today, dear elmore.

I still need to see the 1936 film. Show Boat is probably my favorite musical.

elmore, I thought the same thing about the band, but I think it's the sound system or something, because in the bridge you can finally hear the synth, and there's definitely a sax on the rideout.
