As for  Jack Nicholson films...  Hmm...

The one that sticks in my head is, of course(?), "The Shining".  However, I do believe the first film I ever saw him in was "One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest".  -And we actually watched that film in high school too - at a Catholic High School no less!  -I forget which class it was for, but we did watch it.

Recently, I did like him in "The Departed", and because I'm such a sap, I'm looking forward to "The Bucket List".

DR MBarnum - Santa used to leave Little Robbie a hat on the globe every year.  When he decided DS Rob was too old for that and had enough hats, he left his own behind and we've been putting it there for him retrieve ever since.

Hmm... Churros... I just had some the other day at lunch.  I ordered them for desert at Victor's Cafe.  They came with small(!!) dishes of chocolate sauce, dulce de leche and condensed milk for dipping.

And speaking of Christmas Shopping...

I actually stayed in bed this morning for a bit just planning out the next couple of days in my head.  I realized that I have to buy the presents for my nieces and nephew.  However, since I'm flying down Thursday, I think I may just take care of their present-shopping down there - which would also free up some space in my luggage.  I also want to get John some sort of construction/erector set, and god knows what that would look like going through the x-ray machines at the airport.  So...  I want to scout out a few things this afternoon, and I guess I'll just take it from there.  If anything, I can always ship a box down on Wednesday if I come across the "perfect gift".

Thanks, Jose.  Does it have styles a la the lower-end Yamahas (the PSR series, for example).  I'm lazy sometimes when it comes to sequencing drums and prefer pre-sets.

You're welcome, James.

Hmm... Good question.  I've only ever used them for programming and live performance, so... ???  Maybe there's something buried on the specs page. -Or you could download the PDF Manual and see what's in there.

DR JMK - Oh, yeah - there are some preset drum loops and "songs" on board.  And you can also download a bunch from Yamaha's user-site to upload into the synth.

Jose thanks for the link to Olvera Street.  I have many fond memories of going there as a child, and later.

There was a great taquito place on the left as you entered (I think that was the entrance closet to the train station).  They had the thin, thick green sauce you can’t find anymore.  The taquito’s were cooked to perfection.

We haven’t been there since the boys were young, and even then we were shocked at how much it had grown & changed during our years on the east coast.

Curro and two eclairs.

der Brucer

Actually, it looks more like a churro and two profiteroles to me.  Although, it does look like the churro may be receiving an "assist" from an eclair.  ;)

I remember that taquito place very well.  I ate there a few times when I was in LA a few years ago.  There was also a great churro place among the storefronts.

And as for that "thick, thin green sauce", well I still find it around my 'hood.  ;)  In fact, there a few bottled varieties out there now that are pretty decent.  I really like the D. L. Jardine's brand of Roasted Tomatillo Salsa.  It's the tomatillos that give you that thick/thin consistency.  A lot of the Mexican brands also can it.

On this day in 1903 the Wright Brothers took to the air at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina.

Also on this day in 1843, Charles Dickens published "A Christmas Carol."
