Lunch was quite lovely.  We went to Applebee's, then my cousins went to  see Les Miserables, which should be where they are right now.

Jeanne, you could be right about a magnesium deficiency, though blood work has never shown one.  My goal in the NY will be to find some sort of extra magnesium I can tolerate.

Jane, a blood test isn't a reliable indicator of magnesium because magnesium isn't stored in the blood. There are trace amounts there only. The only reliable indicators of magnesium are the magnesium loading test (two 24-hr urine samples back to back), also called the magnesium challenge test, and the blood ionized magnesium test, which is quite different from a standard blood test. This is one of the reasons why magnesium deficiencies are so common (80% of Americans are estimated to have a magnesium deficiency)--they don't show up on standardized blood tests.

Recommended reading: Carolyn Dean, MD's book, THE MIRACLE OF MAGNESIUM. Short, easy to read, usually available in paperback at Amazon for $10 or $12.  I've interviewed her, BTW, and would consider a consultation with her. She's in NY, but does phone consultations. Her website is carolyndean.com.

Skip and I will be leaving shortly to see the 3 pm (yes, at 3 for some reason) of Drowsy Chaperone.  Looking forward to seeing Danny Burstein giving that always-hilarious performance as Aldolpho, and of course BK's own Cindy Williams, and also have heard terrific things about Bob saget's performance.

Hello, everyone.

Jose, yes, I frequent Eamonn's Dublin Chipper, owned by Cathal Armstrong of Restaurant Eve.

TOD:

I saw fewer films than usual in the theatres this year. A month or so ago I was trying to tell someone what my favorite film of the year was and nothing came to mind. It's wasn't a very memorable year of movie-going for me! That said,

Favorite films of 2007:
SWEENEY TODD
LA VIE EN ROSE

As for performances, I'd have to think about it--I felt so lukewarm about so many of the films. Yes, a so-so film can contain a stellar performance, but a so-so film also rather detracts in general, IMO.

Good Afternoon!

Greetings from Steve's place.  We made it out of the grocery store with everything we need for the part in the cart.  Hopefully. Guess we'll find out soon enough. ;)

*And we also made a stop at the liquor store.  What would a Taco Party be without some margaritas and piña coladas.   ;)

And now for today's Cuteness "Alert"...

Emily was "helping" her mother fold the laundry last night, and I guess she wanted to see what it would be like playing Ms. Claus for a while:

And shortly after she posed - yes, she posed! - for those pics, she finally gave her Uncle Jojo a besito, which was the best Christmas present Uncle Jojo ever got.  :)

Thanks you Dr’s Laura & Ginny.

I went for a nice walk this morning on our road and along the dirt trail.  The walk includes a BIG hill & the, very soft, dirt trail worked my legs.  I’m feeling good right now.

Jeanne, I saved the info-thanks-and have it on my New Year’s resolution list.  I’m going to go back over my records and what exactly, or how, I was tested for in the past.  Of course, if I can’t find a magnesium I can tolerate it really won’t matter.  I’ll begin that search, again, first.

We haven’t seen all that many movies this year, I’m thinking about it.  From the movies mentioned so far, HOT FUZZ rates high on my list.

We haven’t watched ZODIAC yet.  Last night we watched THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER instead.  Such a beautiful, sad, old movie.

Back from driving about in my motor car.  I stopped for a Jumbo Jim at Dolores.  Now I'm home until Sweeney Todd.

I received a vile yet amusing e-mail from the producer, co-writer, and director of The Kid From Brooklyn - he seemed incensed that I had lunch with his star.  I don't mind him not being happy with what I wrote, but it's not like I'm a critic, so I can't imagine why he'd care.  Thin-skinned and his note was so childish as to border on the inane.  Perhaps I'll quote some of it, but its first line set the tone - basically, who do you think you are?  A producer, a director, a writer?  As if my not being those things means I shouldn't write about things.  The fact that I AM those things is probably something he could have easily found out so that he doesn't quite look so foolish.  Anyway, I'm going to respond right now.

Lots of interesting posts yesterday.

RE:The Restaurant Website - I didn't see a contact email address either, and on the Readers' Remember page, the webmaster says it's a hobby and he doesn't have a lot of time to answer emails or letters, so maybe he doesn't want any more information.
Oh, I think he does:

Forgive me for being E & T for the past few days.  I think I posted on Wednesday, but I am not sure.  Wednesday, Thursday, and most of yesterday I was pretty much out of it.  It took two days for the substitute nurse to get a prescription faxed to my pharmacy, although she continues to blame the pharmacy for the problem.

I actually got out of bed and got dressed today, but I don't know how long I will be up.  I guess you would have to say that I had a major relapse of the pneumonia.  I have got to get well enough to get back to work on Monday or I won't get paid for Tuesday.

Good to see you here DR TCB.

If your son were still around he could go to work and masquerade as you.

I wrote that website and gave the info about my father's restaurant, and if he lists it as I've asked him to, I will provide him with a treasure trove of images.
