Larry, you can always come south and stay with us. Our bugs are at least fewer in number, and easier to see!

Of course, New York also boasts the worst drivers in the nation, according to a recent report by one of the national insurance companies.

They don't drive that well in FLorida, either.

It became very controversial when the parents found out that it was "about gangs" and "celebrated unchastity"!

Better you go to a nice Bible based film:

Today's news item on television:
There is a new book about Tom Cruise.

Now I remember why I rarely turn on the television.

They also had a new film clip they were showing of Tom speaking at a Scientology meeting.  He sure is getting air time today.

Yesterday I was asked to learn and sing Duke Ellington's "Come Sunday" for services at the church this coming Sunday.  I had certainly heard of this piece, but wasn't overly familiar with it.

My, it's a bit rangy!  Just shy of two octaves.    :P

Or maybe it should have been:

And I'm Drambuie imbued with Dasani
Part Julie Miller and part Giuli-ani
Dry like John McCain (la-la-la)
Wet like Norman Maine (la-la-la)
More than just insane -
Alive!!!!!

Or would that be too "in"  :)

Noel - Interesting post about HAIRSPRAY.  But at what point can one say that a show is considered by the general populace to be a quality show if awards and overwhelmingly positive reviews aren't a proper gauge of what's considered "good" in our society?  There will always be some people who don't like work that the critics and award-givers love, as they did HAIRSPRAY, won't there?  So where does it end?

In today's Notes conerning "No Country For Old Men", bk remarks:

Quote
it makes little sense as drama and has little resemblance to the world in which we live (I mean, honestly, the villain goes around toting a huge gun in plain sight

It should be noted that the object in question is a "Cattle Gun", a perfectly legal farm implement, lawful to carry in plain sight.

It is still legal in some jurisdictions, like Arizona, to walk around carrying a fully loaded hand gun in plain sight!

We also have palmetto bugs, which are larger than roaches, and they can fly!

The only insect problem I have around my house are palmetto bugs. Nothing seems to wipe them out during the summer. I haven't seen one in months (maybe all our dry weather and my bug spray did them in for this year), but they are usually a year-round phenomenon.

Good morning!

Very cold here this morning (below 20!), but it's warming into the 40s today (supposedly). Tomorrow the forecasters are saying we're in for a winter mix of ice, snow, and sleet with temps not climbing out of the low 30s. Brrrrr!

Once again, the contents of the mail will determine how I spend my afternoon. I'll watch last night's SVU as I prepare and eat lunch. Then, if the Criterion discs arrive, it'll be THIS SPORTING LIFE which is 2 hours, 15 minutes long and will take most of the rest of the afternoon. If the Criterions don't arrive, then it'll be back to Hawaii with Steve McGarrett and "Danno" Williams.

Once again tonight, AMERICAN IDOL is featuring a two hour audition show (Dallas) which I will gladly skip. That's two hours I can use to view other things in order to meet deadlines.

From what I've read MICHAEL CLAYTON sounds like a movie I would like. However, I'll be waiting for either a DVD/Blu-ray or HBO transmission to see it.
