Oy--I had the day from computer hell yesterday.  My work computer would not allow me to sign on to MSN, which is where I keep all my bookmarks and work-related internet stuff.  We had just installed Norton, so I thought that was the culprit and I uninstalled it.  No effect.  So I gave up and went home and called the Qwest/MSN tech line, where of course I got the ESL tekkie from far off Namibia or something, who told me the problem (which had an error code) was due to my work computer's date being incorrect.  I found that hard to believe, but decided not to argue.  Well I get to work today and lo and behold (and also behold and lo), my date had indeed been changed to sometime in May, 2008.  I have absolutely no clue (or clew) how that happened.  But I changed it back to today and all is well with my internetdom.

So, Happy Birthday, Anniversary, new job, new pet, new spouse to anyone I missed yesterday.  :)

And on a related note... On the way to the Minetta Lane Theatre last night to catch The Adding Machine, I noticed that the West Village branch of The Pita Pit had shuttered.  -And it looked liked it had been closed for a while.

Tomorrow is the first round of State Instrumental Competitions, when I will be accompanying the student horn player in the Hindemith piece, so pray for my frazzled fingers.  ;)

TOD:

DVD:  the Mirren boxed set.  Some pretty lamentable adaptations interspersed with one or two goodies so far.  The performances are all excellent, don't get me wrong, it's the material and the "modern" (circa 1970s-80s) reinterpretations that get my goat, which is strange because I don't have a goat.

CD:  More Cal Tjader.  He does a groovilicious Theme from Burke's Law.  ;)

DR Jeanne - just think of my posts as meaningless twitter.  Half the time I don't even know what I'm saying.

I liken my posting philosophy to cooked pasta...
...throw enough of 'em against the wall, and some are bound to stick!

Bruce, I said the five Hail Marys and one Hail Norman. In fact, not only did I hail Norman, I hailed Khalid, and Muhammud, and every single cab I saw. Isn't that enough?

Well, it might be meaningless twitter, but it's humorous meaningless twitter. And I sometimes pick up any material I can as fodder for my own MT (meaningless twitter).

How can it be lunchtime when I've only been at work 2 hours?

Oh, yeah, "2-hour delay."

The thing that's really irritating about today is that what I'm doing here could just as easily be done at home.  We have no telecommuting option, largely because I think the powers that be think we need constant supervision.  So, how do they justify the fact that there is NO MANAGER in our department today?

Hmmm, there are now 3 musical revivals open or about to open in New York that I'd like to see:

Sunday in the Park with George, now-June 1
South Pacific, with Danny Burstein as Luther Billis, March 1-June 22
Gypsy, March 3-open

Hmmm, if Richard and I were to plan a Memorial Day weekend trip, we might be able to see all three....

Hmmm....

I'm seeing Gypsy on March 4th (the second performance). I saw the City Center production last year. I'm looking forward to South Pacifc also. I saw Sunday last month.

I

As for DEXTER, at first I was sort of grossed out by what i was seeing. And i don't think this will ever be my favorite show. But I found that they injected a lot of humour. And since he is only going after bad people, i think it could be quite interesting to see what happened.

Very different concept.

We watched DEXTER on CBS & I'm guessing missed most of what you found gross.  We didn't notice any unevenness in the story line.  We are giving the show one more try even though we weren't overly involved.

Singdaw, I wasn't ignoring you, I was catching up before responding.  I did hear from Danise.  She she is too tired to read the posts & with nothing new going on I think she feels bad posting & not reading.  I can understand that.  I will tell her just to stop & say hello so everyone knows she is fine.

Sherlock seems fine thank you.   We have only been taking him for short walks, just to be on the safe side.

You know, there was a time when I'd see a double meaning in something I'd written here and correct it. Then I said, "No. This is all in fun, anyway. Give the DRs some material to work with." So now I just let it fly. But, like DR JANE, I know there's lots of stuff that goes right over my head. Oh, well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one ;).  Honestly I'm amazed how often fun isn't had with some of my posts ;D
