I REEK OF GARLIC sounds like an indie movie retelling of the life of Abraham Van Helsing.

bk - Do you know who the final three singers were last night (before you left)?  Or was the line-up "to be announced from the stage"?

*And what did Jason sing?

I'll be speaking to the singer this morning.  She chatted with her MD and with my booklet designer (who designed her press materials) both of whom I sent the entire volley of last night's e-mails.  Neither of them saw any disrespect or tone in my e-mails to her and told her so.  She wrote me back and asked to chat this morning and wanted to clear the air, and I said okay.

Perhaps she's one of those superlative singers Anna Russell used to parody, with resonance where her brain should be.

DR JRand## - ...After reading your "dog story" last night, I was thinking that your next post might have read something like this:

...Unfortunately, I still had the leash in my hand when the police came to my door asking if I had seen a dog that been tied to a tree down the street...

;)

*Seriously, I do hope that that dog is being taken care of properly by his/her owners.

I just noticed a new thing in our board software - the "jump to" icon below the final post on every page - it's set for whatever specific board your posting on (in this case daily discussions), and clicking on "go" takes you back to the list of topics.  Nice.

Hmm... I don't see no stinkin' "Jump To" icon.  Hmmm... ???....

Oh, nevermind, I see it.  It's not an icon, but a drop-down menu.  ;)

So...

Has Sunday night become the new "Must-See" TV night?  I just find it very interesting that so much quality programming is now on Sunday nights - which is basically a "school night" for most adults.

No word on June Kenney, DR MBARNUM....as yet, I guess.

Has there been any books looking into what might have happened to June Kenney?  I would love to read more about her disappearance.

I certainly hope this singer has had time to reconsider her position.

DR MBarnum - This may have been mentioned when it came originally was published, but...

I was reading an article in Edible Manhattan about the cookbook mecca, Kitchen Arts & Letters, and mention is made of this cookbook:

Wow....can a musical version of THE UNDEAD be far behind?

There are a few things listed there that sound like fun.....but so much of it sounds.....well tired or at least uninspired....I wish some of the titles were zippier!

I wonder if DR George got to see THE YELLOW WOOD during the New Musical Festival at The Village Theater?

And since I've been up, I've made breakfast... I improvised a sort of matzohbrei \

That reminds me of one of the funniest song parodies I ever heard. BK wrote the lyrics to the Mothra Theme Song. He actually recorded it as a hidden track, but didn't use it for Jeepers Creepers

For those who missed it first-hand last night, Anne Hathaway (as Mary Poppins) on SNL:

Thanks for posting this, DR td.  I also liked the clip titled "C-Span Bailout," which gave more understanding of the financial crisis than anything I heard on NPR all week.

Druxy - do you know about the well-talked-about musical that will be at NAMT this year, BEATSVILLE,  based on Mr. Corman's movie Bucket of Blood?

No.  Does he?

And..............................

And...

First of all, the title is derived from the Robert Frost poem, "Two roads diverged in a yellow wood..."

Secondly, it deals with ADD as well as being a teenager with ADD, high school cliques, cultural identity, sibling rivalry, etc., etc., etc. I liked the show, but felt it still needed some shaping and some judicious pruning.

It starred Jason Tam - the original Paul from the revival of A Chorus Line, and now on "One Life To Live" - and was directed by B.D. Wong.

-And that's the show and my opinion in the proverbial nutshell.

Jose, Jason sang a song from Snoopy - can't remember the title - a ballad.  And there was no list of singers - they were all announced from the stage.

I arrived at the Hollywood Collector's show at about ten-forty and found parking easily.  When I walked in the front door I knew why - it was pretty dead, attendance-wise.  I walked around the room seeing who was there and saw Roger Corman also walking around the room - the fact that he wasn't at his table told me everything I needed to know.  The first person I said hey to was Ruta Lee, who I've known for twenty years or so.  She looked great and we had a nice chat.  Then I found Roger and Druxy - Roger was already packing up, and left five minutes later.  As I said to him, "The writing's on the wall, huh?"  Seated next to him was Miss Barbara Steele, and I said hi to her and reminded her I'd issued the Black Sunday soundtrack and that we'd met a bunch of times.  She was very sweet.  I wandered around checking out everyone and talking to dealer pals.  While it never really got busy in the two hours I was there, there were, at least, a few more people.  Leslie Nielsen walked in around eleven-fifteen - he had a little line of people waiting.  Jane Russell wasn't there - apparently she wasn't feeling well.  Linda Gray (is that her name - the Dynasty woman) had a small line, but no one was really doing much business, especially the dealers.  For me, though, I had a blast, because I had a wonderful chat with Tony Dow, who I hadn't seen since I did my documentary Weekday Heroes, which he hosted.  He's so nice and his wife was there and we had the best time reminiscing about the shoot - he'd just watched the show a week ago, in honor of Engineer Bill's recent passing.  I was delighted to find out that Sheriff John is still alive and living in Boise, and apparently Chucko the Clown is also alive.

Most shocking celeb in terms of looking nothing like they used to: Tommy Kirk.

Best-looking celebs who still look incredible - Meredith Salinger and Cynthia Gibb.

Other celebs seen: Barry Bostwick, Tom Laughlin and his wife, Noell Neill, Pogue's pal Denny Miller, Richard Kiel, and others I can't remember right now.

As soon as I saw that Leslie Nielsen had no people at his table I went up to him and reminded him of The Creature Wasn't Nice, which he remembered right away.  We also had a nice chat.  So, I'm really glad I went.
