bk - are you going to look at THE PIRATE?  I'm very interested in your opinion of that transfer.
GIGI, I agree is a far better transfer than AN AMERICAN IN PARIS, which IMHO, is not only brown, but entirely too dark.
THE PIRATE, to me, is just a rotten transfer, but I could be wrong.

I don't think THE PIRATE is rotten; I just think it's lackluster which makes it a bitter disappointment (I think the Todd AO version of OKLAHOMA is a rotten transfer). One of the most vivid Technicolor movies in the MGM canon, and it just doesn't "pop" at all the way the laserdisc from the Judy box did. And when a laserdisc is more vivid and impressive than a studio sanctioned DVD, there is a serious problem.

For DR Jane (as well as some other DRs)...

Original Carvel Stores Closes

:-\

There's also an audio feature about it on NPR.

I began my evening of viewing with five episodes of MISSION IMPOSSIBLE - Season 5. In that fourth episode which I mentioned earlier today had Larry Pennell as a guest star, it also had Sharon Acker and Loretta Swit.

Some guest stars from other episodes: Benson Fong and James Shigeta, Jill Haworth, many others.

So with 8 episodes watched today, that leaves me with 15 more, certainly more than I'll be able to get to tomorrow.

I watched tonight's DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES. I knew exactly how the Lynette storyline was going to go and how it would end; kind of a downer.

I'm really loving Neal McDonough's character (and is he ever attractive, but I've always thought so all the way back to BOOMTOWN.) And what a delight to see Richard Burgi again, even if for too brief a time.

I have to say that I've never been much of a Teri Hatcher fan, but she has had real chemistry with all three men on the show that she's been connected to.

Dana Delaney didn't have much to do tonight.

And I completed my evening of viewing with BROTHERS & SISTERS. Another noisy Walker squabble (I think they should try a week without one), but other portions of the show I enjoyed, so overall it was OK.

I better go.  I think I'm ready for the sentencing - but I want to reveiw everything again. Since it's at 9:00 AM and I'll need to be there early to meet with my client, I better sign off.

Matt, I get the impression that the next show may be calmer.  I'm hoping or I may quit watching

I don't think my body is in starvation mode - I've been very careful to eat a reasonable amount of calories and fat grams every day and I haven't eaten under a 1000 calories in ages - I'm doing between 1200 to 1400 most days, and then I splurge once a week and maybe eat 2000 on that day and that's served me well and I've lost at least three pounds a week.  The last two weeks it's been less, but not by that much.  I think you're right about the plateau and I'll just keep on jogging and eating the way I've been and I'm sure the final ten pounds will come off in the next month or so.

Thanks for the "cod piece"!

Hmmm... I wonder which of the 20+ flavors of macarons DR edisaurus has selected today? :)

Well, I bought 24 and tried two. One I'd had last time but it was so good that I wanted it again: champagne and apricot, and the other was pumpkin and rhum.

I brought 8 to Peter and his family---they immediately opened and devoured them. and another 8 went to my hosts who are now back home and enjoying them. I brought home 6 to share with Greg, including lime (in the) coconut, cassis, fleur de sel caramel, pistachio, cranberry/strawberry, and espresso. I think it's time to bust them out and see if they survived the trip.

Peter gave me olive oil he'd brought back from Italy, so I had to throw that in my suitcase. Nothing was leaking from it when I claimed it so I think it made it here safely.

Oh, and the ham and cheese croissant at Madeleine---best I've ever had. MMMMM!

I have some serious penance to do next week, but it was worth it!

Hi all.  I may have done something very foolish.  As you know, my computer went down.  Well, it turned out that not only did it have a virus, it also had a bad spot on the motherboard.

Translation:  The whole computer is a now a piece of junk.  I am so fed up on viruses and such that I bought a new computer.  An apple.  An expensive Apple.  I just felt that with everything I have been through these past few months, I deserved something nice.

Dear Danise----buying an Apple is never foolish! :-)

And since I've been up, I've made breakfast... I improvised a sort of matzohbrei \

That reminds me of one of the funniest song parodies I ever heard. BK wrote the lyrics to the Mothra Theme Song. He actually recorded it as a hidden track, but didn't use it for Jeepers Creepers

And where DID he use it?

Well, I'm not anywhere near giving up on the show, but I just think that in-fighting gets a bit tedious week after week. Seems like lazy writing not to come up with some other kind of family interaction. Yes, sometimes, they do band together when they have an enemy to fight or need moral support. But the individual members who have interesting things going on now need to be explored without getting all of them together for a disruptive meal.

Oh, bk mentioned ADAM-12. I had the chance to review that second season box, but after having done 7 TV box sets in September, I was hoping for a bit of a break from them. No such luck. I'll have at least one for each of the next three weeks.

And I was a BIG fan of the show when it was originally broadcast. I never missed an episode.

I also need to get a ticket for Dividing the Estate, the new Horton Foote play transfering from Off-Broadway to Broadway.

Is it about Elmore's family?

OH!

DR edisaurus - It sounds like you had a "Mozzarepa" at the street fair.

Yes, that was it exactly. It seems to be a franchise---I saw them again today at a street fair up near Peter's. If they decided to expand to Atlanta I think they would do very well.

Now it's Mozzarepa"...

Yes, and they tied them with different colored ribbons so I would know who gets what. And they have moved! I like their new space better---more room for dining.

Golly, everyone has ADAM-12 season 2, except me!! If only Best Buy or Shopko or some darn place would do a better job of keeping up with these new releases.

I really wanted me some Kent McCord this weekend!
