I need to go to the church and plant some of these things I bought at the Botanical Garden plant sale. I'll replace some things that didn't survive the summer heat.

I just thought you'd all like to know.

Good Afternoon!

A busy, but good so far.

My Dad is feeling better.

My Mom will be coming home tomorrow morning - definitely. :)

And I will catch up when I can. And since we're now at lunch...

Mr. Bakalor just showed me how to do the purge - but because the bulk of the purge would have to be on the old board, I only did from this new board - we're fine for now, and as we go along I think I can just maintain this board.

I think I'm still feeling better - but still coughing a lot.  I don't know how I feel about jogging yet, so I'm staying put for the time being.

Oh, best foodstuffs.

For our old LA contingent:
Zito's Italian restaurant, formerly on Pico Blvd near Westwood--TANGIEST SALAD DRESSING!
My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Hi, Sing!

Re: coleslaw (NO reference to DR mentioned above!):
the very best IMO was at Stern's Barbeque, also in LA.

I seem to be thinking a lot about LA today.

DR Ann I hope you are feeling better & Toby didn't mind the change in your diet.  How does he feel?

Thanks DR Jane.  Well, I am feeling better, but I was still icky feeling for most of the night.  I'm not sure if it was related or not, but poor Toby spent the night being really uncomfortable as well. I couldn't lay him down without him spitting up all over himself.  I finally propped myself up with pillows in a semi-reclined position and lay Toby on my chest so he was more upright.  This seemed to help a great deal.  He was still burping a lot, but the food stayed down.  I'm now having some nice oatmeal and coffee, both of which I know I can tolerate well, and Toby is snoozing in my lap.  I hope both of us feel better as the day goes on.

George, love the couch!  I much prefer this style of sleeping couch to the old pull out ones.  They always seemed to have a metal bar placed in the perfect position to totally throw out one's back while they slept.

And the word of the day is: BIDENDATE!

BK- I THINK YOU MEANT BIDENTATE

And The Song Of The Day Is :  AUTUMN LEAVES

Appropriate song, I think, seeing all the leaves out of my window.  Autumn Leaves was the first song I learned to play using only chord markings.  I'd learned classical piano via. the Suzuki method as a youngster, but they never taught me to read chord charts.  I started learning that in middle school, starting with Autumn Leaves and Satin Doll.

Good Afternoon!

As for the Topic of the Day...

Ukrop's grocery stores in Richmond for all of them. They have two types of coleslaw, and their shrimp salad (with dill) is soooo good. I would buy it to put on crackers or make a sandwich, but would usually just end up eating right out of the container.

TOD -
I'm very picky about most "salad" type things.  I do not care for 90% of grocery store macaroni salads and potato salads.  They are inevitably too mayo-y and lack any real flavor.
As for other salads, I once had a salmon-salad sandwich at a restaurant up on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands.  I can't remember the name of the place at all, but it was simply divine.  It was obviously fresh made, with a bit of dill in it...soooo good.

DH Jed and I have "our" pasta salad that we make often during the summer to have in the fridge.  It's a hybrid of the two pasta salads we grew up with as children.  Using salad macaroni as a base, we add cubes of cheddar cheese, thawed peas, chopped green onion, crumbled bacon (NOT bacon bits) and chopped hard boiled egg.  The dressing is a mayo-vinegar mix that Jed is much better at creating than I am.  The dressing is only there enough to coat the ingredients, but it's not creamy and overpowering.  The result is simply delicious.  We've brought it to potlucks and parties, always with positive results.

I forgot to mention earlier that Charlie Beale, the Men's Chorus' new music director, missed last week's rehearsal because he was in London receiving an award from Oxford University Press for his new book.

I have nothing to add to the TOD, so instead I will attempt to add to the LOL and post another couple of fun Bollywood subtitles.

I had a good session at physical therapy; they added one new exercise, so I'm now doing three different exercises along with the ultrasound, deep heat and electroshock treatments.  I walked back on amsterdam Avenue and stopped in a nice /art supplies shop on Amsterdam at 91st Street and picked up some envelopes. I need to get my photos from the past 45 years in order and labeled so I can send them to Ohio.

Well, it looks like my Thanksgiving plans are screwed: I just spoke to the lady in charge of the property closing and she says it will be another week or two because of God knows what legalities besides the goddam county and stupid beauraucrats. Given that the offer said a six-eight week period is moving into twelve weeks pisses me off a great deal.
