Now....I got the Annette Box in the mail today.  I am happy to read everyone's response....

I am not sure this is addressed anywhere on the DVD's - it isn't mentioned in the written material - but the novel Margaret was purchased by Walt Disney and it was originally planned to be titled DARLENE and star everyone's favorite singing Mouse Darlene Gillespie.

Time marches on....Darlene's fan mail was nil....Annette's fan mail was about 5,000 letters a month (Darlene always said it was all of Annette's Italian relatives sending in letters).

Darlene was out as the star and assigned the role of Jett, and Margaret became Annette.

Darlene and her agent/mother expressed deep disappointment at the situation, and Darlene found herself completely out of the serial.....

Also one episode is titled Almost a Fight....but I am almost certain it was called Almost a HAIR PULLING Fight....I shall have to wait an hour or so until I watch it.

I forgot (at least I think I forgot) to mention the one positive moment in last night's rush to the ER.  I parked in the parking lot, jumped out of the car, and there in all its glory on the hospital wall was --- me.

The thought that Annette Funicello - as Annette - and Roberta Shore - as Laura - just might get into a hair pulling fight still fills me with anticipation.

There is nothing...NOTHING....that could have kept me from  watching the Mickey Mouse Club the next day to see exactly WHAT would or WOULD NOT happen!

Laura wasn't really mean, just kind of stuck up, and completely insecure that her boyfriend was getting a bit too friendly with the farm girl......  Although she had some catty things to say about Annette's wardrobe....and accused her of stealing her bracelet.

What was the name of the show?

My sister, who was four years old at the time, was allowed to name me. And she named me after the mean Laura in that show.

I guess she was really happy to have a little sister.

Good Evening!

So... As for MoMA and the Miró, well... I think today was my third time going through the exhibit. And I think it will be, was my last.  I do appreciate Joan Miró's painting and "anti-painting", and his efforts at deconstructing and radicalizing the artistic process, however, the finished products, for the most part, leave/left me cold.  And I still think it's a most telling sign that the one thing about the exhibition that sticks in my head is the title of one of the works: "A Man and A Woman Standing in Front of a Pile of Excrement".

*And I really do marvel at the amount of detail he put into each of his paintings.  There are some fine lines and curves that almost look like they were drawn mechanically or with the aid of a stencil of some sort, but they were all painted free-hand.

And I have decided to come out of theater retirement.  I have been asked to do a role in the show GLORIOUS, the story of Florence Foster Jenkins.  I am going to be playing her boyfriend, St. Clair Byfield in the production at the Tacoma Musical Playhouse beginning in January.

After I had finished assessing the Miró, I headed on down to the 3rd floor to check out The Printed Picture.  What a truly wonderful surprise of an exhibit this turned out to be.

It's sort of laid out academically, with each room of the exhibit highlighting a particular printing and/or photographic process.  There are no "Masterpieces" on display, however, the curator has managed to turn some everyday objects, prints, images and photographs into prime examples of their various processes and technology.  Towards the end of the sequence of rooms and examples, I thought I had inadvertently turned around since it seemed like things were starting to go backwards, but then I realized that the examples mounted on the gallery walls were from the very recent past - including a copy of the front page of today's(!) New York Times.  However, the examples from "today" were very much a result of "yesterday".  It truly brought the whole exhibit full-circle by demonstrating how the printing and reproduction processes of today are more closely related to how images were first reproduced many(!) years ago, closer than one would think.  I guess a less-convoluted way to put it would be as follows: Woodblock prints and engravings were the first attempts at photography, long before the term "photograph" was even coined.

It's because we care.  I thought the flu comment was about DR Ann's furnace.
