That doesn't sound right!  It sounds like I want someone to step on your house.  Which is just silly!

Whatever happened to her? (Laura Nyro)

She passed away from ovarian cancer about ten years ago.

Thanks, Tom. I feel more positive today, but it's been an emotional roller coaster.

Actually, since one of the home inspector's recommendations was to rebuild both the interior stairs and those on the front porch, you're not too far wrong!!  Said inspector should NEVER, NEVER, EVER own an old house!!!

This afternoon I attended my last departmental meeting and, since most of what they were discussing will take place after I'm gone, I spent a lot of time in my "happy place."  The pizza and cookies, provided by our managers, were good, though.

With the upcoming Holiday Travel Season upon us, here's some good/bad news:

Tempting the Thieves With the Pocketables

Quote
Ellen Howe, a spokeswoman for the T.S.A., said Monday that the agency has fired 465 officers for theft since the spring of 2003. That is “a minuscule fraction of the work force,” she said.

She also said incidents were down sharply. In 2005, she said, the agency paid $3 million in claims for missing possessions or damaged bags. “This year it has been less than $1 million,” she said.

*And there will be a follow-up article next week focusing on safety tips and travel precautions.

Does anyone else remember when flying used to be fun?

Yes, DR TCB, I remember when we used to get all dressed up for a flight.

Laura was a very strange private person.  Se retired from the music business when she was like 24, but then she came in the Seventies, but I don't remember if she was still writing.  I saw her in 74 or 75 at the Paramount Theater in Seattle, but I only remember her playing her older stuff.

Yes those are airplanes in my avatar.....

I watched the extras on the EASTER PARADE and BANDWAGON sets last night.  Interesting.  Of course there was also the Judy Garland By Myself American Masters program.

I also watched some of FINIAN'S RAINBOW.....got all the way up to "Old Devil Moon" - I like Fred and Petula, but Tommy Steele is so strange looking and Don Francks has an unusual look that I need time to think about......  And I think Hermes Pan had some problems.....I really hate it when the first thing a choreographer has EVERYONE do in a song is SIT DOWN!

I think "Old Devil Moon" is the sexiest song number in the history of movie musicals. Sexiest dance number is open to some discussion, though "Dancing in the Dark" and "Heather on the Hill" are among my favorites.

It has warmed up since this morning, but the cloud cover is still gray and thick. No rain yet, but it's got to be coming.

I watched another BONES episode as I cooked and ate lunch. It was, unfortunately, the season finale with the bitter revelation of the Gormogon apprentice. I still watched it even though it breaks my heart to see it again.
