As I mentioned last night, I'll likely be back to work today on THE DUCHESS. No UPS shipments yet, so this may be my last review until something new arrives. I'm thinking the second season set for THE TUDORS should arrive this week, but I haven't been getting the TV box sets I've requested on a regular basis so who knows?

Good morning, good morning! Yup, it's raining here in sunny LA. Bit of a guilty pleasure for this Seattle gal... makes the air so fresh and BREATHABLE!!! Still, be careful out there, DR's.

I slept so well - off and on for about 12 hours. I've been so exhausted with getting my cousin relocated and settled in and doctored and doing the accounting and finding a groomer for her service dawg and and and... She's mostly taken care of by now - we'll see just how much, on Friday, when the van from the assisted living facility shleps her to and from the doctor (fingers x'd...). So, sleep was so welcome.

And today, I'm doing some work for the theater (great part time job, managing director - hang out with creative types, total up receipts and make any sort of sense of their first year, start planning grant ap's, send out fundraising letters for Year 2, go to plays, ask for dollars for Year 2, deposit a few checks, ask for a few more, keep the checkbook, and request money from potential donors!) And they buy lunch!

This evening I'll work on my Irish accent and study my script for the reading. It's just grand, I tell ya.

I remember seeing STARLIFT.  It's like a THANK YOUR LUCKY STARS/HOLLYWOOD CANTEEN for the Korean War.

Cagney is in it.

Love IT'S A GREAT FEELING and, although I don't think I've ever seen it, APRIL IN PARIS has Ray Bolger...which is always a treat.

The 1970s were not a great decade for comedy...

Gee - I would have thought between the Mel Brooks and Pink Panther movies you would have laughed the whole ten years!

My nominations:

The Ritz - 1976
Silver Streak - 1976
Blazing Saddles  -1974
Auntie Mame - 1974
Young Frankenstein - 1974
What's Up Doc - 1972

der Brucer

I agree with the above choices, but I was wondering if Silver Streak should be considered after all have there been any other films where the villian gets decapitated? SS does have some wonderful comedic moments but is also a drama/action film.

Who left off "The Big Bus"?  (worth a giggle or three).

With der Brucer, it was always more like The Big Buss.

You'll have to trust me on that one.

And Shrek opened to some very interestingly mixed reviews last night.

And Gypsy announced that they would be moving up their closing date to January 11 "due to uncertain economic times".

Hello, everyone.
Everything here is as crazy as ever.

For those of you who are not burned out on my home sale stories, here is the latest:
The buyers' termite inspection stated there was evidence of active termites near the electrical box in the basement. Last week I had a pest control company give me an estimate to remedy the situation. "That's not termites," said Pest Guy #2, "It's powder-post beetles." Powder-post beetles require different treatment. Not knowing which guy to believe, I called in Pest Guy #3, the Bug Man (that's his company name). He said I have NO active infestation of either pest. Good news, but will anyone believe me/him? Every time my buyers send in an inspector, the inspector I call in disagees with the buyers' guy. This doesn't put me in the best light. I am honestly trying to determine what the story REALLY is, not just shove things under the rug. Oy!
