I think it's pretty obvious that most inspectors need to find "something."  The ones who don't are probably the only honest ones.  How can you remedy when you get different stories from everyone?  And your potential buyers are beginning to annoy me - you have the right to question these endless inspector's findings - I had the same thing happen - first inspector found about 10K worth of chimney damage - the whole thing was going to have to be rebuilt - first buyers walked away.  Second inspector found NO chimney damage.  Second buyers bought.

Oh, and I'm up.  It rained all night long, but is now only drizzling.  Unless it clears up, no long jog today.

On the subject of cleaning, while Matt and I were cleaning out my basement on Saturday I learned that I have TWO 2-drawer file cabinets (in addition to two 4-drawer cabinets), not just one, as I thought. Apparently, I either didn't notice the second one because of the clutter, or I simply blanked it out. Either way, OY!

I think it's pretty obvious that most inspectors need to find "something."

Someone pointed that out to me a few weeks ago--it made sense--so I deliberately left a couple little things undone. The home inspector didn't find ANY of them. I've always been a believer in home inspections, but these last few weeks have really made me wonder if it's worthwhile. The buyers paid about $700 for their inspection. Perhaps it would have been better to save the money and use it on repairs. Perhaps all homes should be sold as-is.

Last Friday I spoke to the settlement attorney about the conflicting pest reports. She--and she's VERY experienced in real estate law--seemed to think that all I need is a report that says there is no active infestation, so maybe I'm OK. But the buyers are more likely to believe their guy than mine. Maybe it all comes down to credibility.

Is someone saying that I did not catch all the bad posts yesterday?  Der Brucer double checked and said I had.  The person who made them would not have been able to post after I banned him.

Banned in Boston!!!

Maybe they should use that in the GYPSY ads to keep it running.

That picture from SHREK makes me very nervous.  Exactly who IS the audience for this show?

It's not the posts I'm talking about it's the members, although there was one new post in the All Things Nudie board this morning which now seems to be gone. You, as administrator, can (I believe) delete registered members and I think it's clear that those members I listed earlier, except for HHW which Singdaw entered, are not real members but spammers. I don't know that leaving the members will do any harm but since all the other "bad" members were deleted in the first purge, I thought perhaps you would want to purge the small list of new "bad" members.

Never mind, I found them and removed them and banned the new people.  Bakalor just doesn't respond, and he's the ONLY one who can fix this - I don't have the ability to go in to our settings and make changes.  I got a response from the software people about what to do and I forwarded that, but he just doesn't respond to my IMs or e-mails - very frustrating.  If he hasn't responded by the end of the day, I'll call him.  But I can't keep policing these things every five minutes.  I don't see how these incidents can be spambots if they're actually posting.  The reason they haven't posted HERE in any of these current threads since we brought the board new software is because he made this so that only I can change the topic - I guess he hasn't done it for the rest of the board.

Bruce, those spammers are likely computer generated.  So far a new one hasn't set up & our last new member was Aloysius Petrelli (DR Ron) on Oct. 2nd.

Maybe we can all try to pay attention to new members & let you know if they need to be removed.

Okay, Bakalor finally responded.  New members now have to type in some letters and numbers, and once they do that, I have to approve them.  I now have full admin capabilities so we should be fine from now on.

We've had a whopping four orders for Twisted Nerve.  Of course, you have until the 24th - which is when it's officially announced.  At that point, you'll probably have twenty-four hours.

Good to have control over your own site :)

So they have to wait for your approval before they can post?  Is there something to explain the inconvenience?  It is sad this is necessary.
