Arrrgh!

I just received at my desk a copy of TO BROADWAY WITH LOVE, one of the latest DRG re-releases.  This was a revue that ran at the '64 Worlds Fair and had some new songs by Jerry Bock and Sheldon Harnick.  I'm arrrrghing because when I popped the cd into my pc to import the songs into my iPod, I found that none of the nine tracks are encoded with info.  No song titles, no artists, not even the cd title!  What's more, there's no official track info on the cover or in the booklet.  There's a listing of songs at the beginning of the booklet that are paired into nine groups--hopefully I can use this as the info that I will have to type in myself.

Once again, Arrrrgh!

Just read this

While I'm happy about what is replacing Ever After, I was really looking forward to another World Premier.

DR Matthew, I thought this was going to be a report about Sondheim reworking INTO THE WOODS Act One finale.

That song has been going through my head ever since I read that!

I am hearing the siren call of girl scout cookies...

Did that call inform you that the cookie count per package and/or cookie size is being reduced?

COOKIES

Quote
Our cookie baker’s action plan• Little Brownie Bakers is slightly reducing the net weight in most of its Girl Scout cookie packages.

• Some reductions are achieved by slightly reducing the cookie size; other reductions are achieved by putting fewer cookies in the package.
• This year, Thin Mints, Trefoils® and Do-si-dos®, consistent with GSUSA guidelines, will be reduced byone ounce.

• In addition, Little Brownie Bakers will reduce the package weights of Samoas® and Tagalongs® cookies by 0.5 ounces.
• The weight reductions offset some, but not all, of the rising costs. Little Brownie is making hugeinvestments to increase efficiencies and reduce waste at the bakery.
• Lemon Chalet Cremes will become round, a creative solution that increases baker efficiencies so much that the 8 oz. net weight in this cookie package will remain unchanged and the net count will increase to approximately 20 cookies per package.

Thanks for the Austrian pic DerBrucer.  In fact it reached 110 degrees F yesterday. Same today probably. We've also had nearly 4 weeks withour rain being recorded here.

Well, let's face it--girl scout cookies were never a bargin to begin with.  But I've always approached their purchase as a donation to a worthy cause (funding whatever it is that girl scouts do when they are not otherwise selling cookies.)  In return for my donation, I get a tasty treat.

I remember when the Polanski documentary was on, but I was far too snowed under with work to think I'd find time to watch it, and my DVR was too full already to risk putting anything else on there and running out of space. I'll look around on HBO now to see if they plan to rebroadcast it.

I watched last night's LEVERAGE as I ate lunch today. There was a good premise, but the ending was very sloppy and rushed. And hutton's drinking caused dissention in the team which I didn't like to see. I wonder if that's sowing seeds for later problems. I'll have to keep watching to find out.

I spent most of my afternoon watching Val Kilmer IS Moses in TOP SECRET! When I saw this in theaters years ago, I don't think I realized that Val was doing his own singing. Having heard him sing as Moses, we know he can carry a tune and he does all of the rock 'n roll singing in this movie, too.

It's another in the AIRPLANE! zany satire genre, this time satirizing old Nazi-like war films crossed with a 60s beach movie vibe. Not a great pairing of genres but there were certainly some hilarious sight gags amid all the silliness and clutter. Not a terrible way to spend the afternoon (and it's CITIZEN KANE compared to the zany parody movies they come up with now.)

There was a commentary (too many participants), four deleted/extended scenes, three storyboards for action sequences, and the trailer. I got through all of them this afternoon, too.

So tonight, I'm hoping to finish up the remaining shows from last week I haven't yet gotten to (MONK, THE OFFICE) before the DVR gets filled up again beginning tonight when three shows come on at 10, so two will have to be recorded.

Good Afternoon!

Yep, it's gray/grey and rainy here in NYC this afternoon. And ugly. In other words, it was a good day not to take a walk around the city after I was done playing today.
