Interesting discovery...I took one of the DVDs we acquired in England that come free in several of the Sunday Papers and put it in my computer.  It brought up a message box, "This DVD is region 2, your DVD player is set on region 1, would you like to switch over?"  I clicked on yes and it gave me an array of options that basically allow me to play any DVD from any country.  So I've had an all-region DVD player in my computer all this time!

Be careful. Did it say anywhere about the number of times you can change the region. Usually on most computers you can set the drive for any region but you are only allowed to do that 5 times. Once you reach the limit the last region you set becomes the only region though, it doesn't say that anywhere but in small print probably in a manual. Here are three Web sites (including one from Microsoft) which talk about this issue.

DR JMK - I am uploading INNER CITY at File Factory and DR MATTHEW may download it from there, I will let you know if that works.  If it does, then you can just enjoy your copy....although I must say I didn't enjoy it while I was downloading it.

Sounded like a lot of *#$& to me.

Thursday morning greetings!  Another sunny day here in SW Ohio, which makes the snow glisten.  Perfect for errands like grocery shopping and going to the bank to pay off my car.  This evening Richard and I are going to the Miami University campus in Hamilton to hear a lecture about James and Dolley Madison.

What - no rally to support Dayton's prostitute out-reach program?

STIMULUS PROGRAM

Quote
Some projects, such as Dayton’s, have nothing to do with physical improvements or job creation. The city is asking for $1.5 million to provide emergency shelter and educational programs to prostitutes, according to the mayors’ group.

I've done about five pages, but must make an important decision before going further - I'm just waffling on a plot point and I have to decide and then that will be that.  So, I'll take a little break to clear my head.

What a weird day, weather-wise.  When I got up the sun was out and it was just a little overcast.  Then it was completely overcast, then it rained for ten minutes, and now it's just gray out with occasional peeks of sun.

Well her "name" is Rebecca Thatcher and she is "dying" of "cancer."  I may have extrapolated the rest of the information from that precis.   ;D

Well, I was pleased that MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA arrived today (paired with THE PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR). I thus put FRIDAY THE 13th - THE SERIES, Season 2 on hold until tomorrow.

Well, I remembered that it slipped your mind the last two weeks, so that's why I singled you out. You were the one who turned me on to the show (forever grateful for that), so anything I can do to repay in kind....

I did spend the afternoon with the animated MADAGASCAR 2 film. It's a fun little romp, much in the style of the first with lots of hyper characters and booming background music. Most reviews I read said it was superior to the first film. I thought they were about the same in entertainment value though the cast is bigger in this one, and the animation is much more elaborate.

The DVD transfer is simply breathtaking: colorful, detailed, and upconverted looked very close to high def.

I also had time to get through all of the bonus features on the disc. 4 music videos, fairly brief documentaries about various facets of the production running anywhere from 2-11 minutes.

Oh, you already watched it....never mind. I didn't care much for it, other then a few spots that I thought were pretty funny...the first film, I thought, was much better.

When I go back down, I'll do the other DVD: THE PENGUINS OF MADAGASCAR which is a Nick cartoon series. Looks like there are two episodes on the disc plus some bonus features. Hopefully, I can finish it before UGLY BETTY comes on.
