Song of the Day reminds me that I need more. I may have to put my coat on and walk down the stairs to the deli and get a large coffee before I continue my work.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I just saw some guy jump into the crowd shot on "The Today Show"... And then get elbowed by the woman whom he jumped in front of.  -Talk about a look of death. And on national TV too! :D

DR Ben - "Mrs. Remington" as well as "People Carry On" were responsible for a couple of tears during the auditions. :)

*And on a purely "shallow" note: Doesn't Will Chase look quite "woofy" with the facial hair? ::)

Friday morning greetings!  The winds have finally died down here in SW Ohio and it's a clear, sunny, cold morning.  No plans for today, except making a Jello salad for Richard to take to his all-day shape-note sing tomorrow.

Media report:  DVD - 30 Rock, season 1

I don't have any thing planned to watch at home this weekend but there is a place in Miami (I believe) That will be showing all the Academy Award Nominees for Best Animated Short, Best Live Action Short & I think maybe Best Documentary Short. I think I will take advantage of it as I never get the opportunity to see any of these nominations and it should make it an evening of interesting viewing

Sad sad images from the plane crash last night.

...And there was just a report that one of the women who was killed in the crash had lost her husband during 9/11, and that she was a major advocate for the Survivors of 9/11 - and had even met with President Obama just last week in regards to the ongoing memorial process.  She was flying to Buffalo to join her family in celebrating what would have been her husband's 58th birthday.

As for the Friday Media Check...

After the four-day working weekend I had in Memphis...  I've just been catching up shows via the DVR.

I didn't, but I was sort of surprised that there wasn't more news coverage of yet another increase in postage in such a relatively short amount of time.

Alas, sometimes "going digital" can have other side effects.

I assume those "Forever" stamps will still be valid, or will they find a way of making forever not be forever?

Yes, when I go to the post office tomorrow morning I plan on buying more forever stamps though I must admit I don't use stamps much anymore. I use them when I send real greeting cards and I will buy some of the nice looking stamps (the Minnesota stamps, Bette Davis, etc.) but I pay all my bills except two on line. One of the two I don't pay on line I pay in person at the business office. If my landlord accepted ETF payments I would be down to no payments through the mail.

Good morning, all! I was up too late with the plane crash coverage on CNN and I slept in. I had been thinking a couple of days ago about my friend Myra who died on one of the planes on 9/11 and this crash of yesterday has me in a rather reflective mood this morning. I have laundry to do, a birthday call to make to Miss Charlotte in Ann Arbor, and hope that by noon I'll be back to my usual self-centered being.

DR George, I know THE WIZARD OF OZ from reading the book at a 10 year-old rather than the film, which I love, but all of the pre-1939 versions veer drastically from the source. According to the preface to the published 1939 screenplay, additional plots not based on the book were considered for addition to the story. Thank God that didn't happen, although the poppy field and snow come from the 1902 musical version. My friend Marc Swartz has written a great book about these early afaptations and it's wonderful. If you love OZ and don't know this book, you should gtab it since it's selling cheap in hardcover on amazon.com/

Good morning!

Another blissfully gorgeous day here. A little cooler than the previous days (I had to turn the heat back on), but still a high in the low 60s. I see my daffodills starting to pop up out of the ground.

Before the price increase last year, I bought ten books of the Forever stamp and I've used just over five of them, so I'm somewhat ahead of the game.  I'll probably buy at least five more books before this next increase.  I know I'm only saving pennies, but there's an odd satisfaction in this case.

I did watch a couple of MURDER SHE WROTE episodes this morning. One set in NYC had guest stars Cynthia Nixon (looking about 18 years old), David Lansbury, Herb Edelman, Margot Kidder, and David Soul.

I started another that was also chock-full of famous guest stars: Chad Everett, Michael Beck, Don Stroud, Gregg Henry, Hope Lange.
