I do feel that there's someone somewhere who can help Danise. Yes, these things are commonplace, but that doesn't mean there are no remedies.

I've had problems with MANY contractors. I find that most will succumb to pressure. Few people look forward to going to court. Unfortunately, many of us feel uncomfortable standing up for ourselves, but that's exactly what you have to do.

Someone here close to Danise should contact Vern Yip at HGTV..."Deserving Design"...and tell him of DR Danise's plight.  Perhaps he'll redo the badly done rooms in her house and make a show of it.

From what I can tell he is strictly a decorator.  First you need a completed house to decorate.

there has to be someone at HGTV, they do all sorts of shows.

I can see "clearly" now! 8)

About 1pm, I called the optometrist's office and they said my glasses had just come in, but there was only 1 optician on duty today and could they schedule me for Monday.  I said, "NO," and explained that this was an emergency and she said to come right over.

:)  It was wise of you to call them otherwise they wouldn't have done your glasses today.

DR George, you're a glutton for punishment for burning that hideous CAMELOT to a DVD. Absolutely the worst I've ever seen Marin Mazzie, and almost every other casting and directing choice in the production was just so terrible. That is one production I NEVER want to see again.

I liked the Mordred. Oh, how I laugh and laugh.

I don't know how many people Danise told the story of her mom and how she came to be a caregiver for her mom all these years. I always thought it would have made a very sad song in "What If" if only BK had known in time to write the song for the show. So before anyone calls HGTV asking for help for her, be sure you hear the story. Jane probably knows it. Danise never posted it here, as far as I can remember. It's sad.

Wednesday night it snowed here, but today it is beautiful and sunny.  Not terribly warm, but it is still February.

When I go back down later, I'll be able to watch ON THE OTHER HAND DEATH, the next Donald Stratchy mystery which I'm really looking forward to.

I forgot that this was being released!  I just ordered my copy. :D

DR MBarnum, 20%-ouch.  At least your time at work is decreased with the salary.   Just think of all the extra long walks you and Bosco can take.

Any chance of staying with a friend in L. A. instead of a hotel?

Continued TOD:

So, while we were returning home from the store, I mentioned to der B that Julie Taymor is teaming with those guys from U2 who've traded in their real names for the monikers Bono and The Edge, in a return to Broadway.  So what's the project?  Spiderman, the Musical.  (Be afraid, be very afraid.)  So der B got to wondering if there were any other musicals based on superhero comic books.  "It's a Bird, It's a Plane..." I started.

"No, really, are there any..."

"No, really, there was a show called It's a Bird, It's a Plane, it's Superman," I finished.  To prove it (don't I always do this?) when we got home I fished out our copy of Jason Graae Sings Charles Strouse: You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile, and skipped ahead to the fourth track: "You've Got Possibilities," probably the best song from the score.

<SNIP>

I've also heard that there's also a Batman musical in the works. ::)

I think I saw Jim Carrey being funny once. The rest of the time I've seen him, I find him very unfunny. Very.

re: the joaquin phoenix thing

I remember hearing when it happened that perhaps he was just playing a joke on david letterman. Has it been confirmed that how he acted on the show was real and not a gag?

DR Jenn, there is talk that this is actually an elaborate hoax since evey move Phoenix makes is being filmed by Matt Damon.

His brother-in-law Ben Affleck is filming it.

I could never tell those two apart.

It's simple -- Damon is the blonde one...the one who actually HAS acting talent.

Affleck is the dark-haired one with the hairpiece -- the one who is better "behind" the camera, more often than not.

How do you know he has a hairpiece?

I think this whole week has been quite the energy-sapper - or energy-zapper, if you prefer - for many folks.  Myself included, somewhat.  And there have been various comments from people on Twitter truly T-ing GIF!

I wonder if it has something to do with Uranus?

Did anyone see Jake on SNL when he came out (no pun intended) in full "Dreamgirls" drag and sang (I think) "And I am Telling You I'm Not Going"?  He was actually quite good!
