Ben - does that mean they know they received the e-mail, but are choosing to ignore it until later?  :)

The Case of the Laundered Muffalata - That's the title of my next Erle Stanley Gardner parody.

Beyond that, der Brucer just fell down and went boom while taking out the trash.

Nothing serious - he was pushing the trash can up the driveway, said trash can skidded, so did he, and he landed on one knee.  He was more startled than anything else.

Thank goodness it was nothing serious.  I hope he isn't hurting tomorrow.

Being a big fan from way back of the British Carry On films I finally rented Carry On Laughing the television series that ran 13 episodes.

What a major disappointment. Totally unfunny and I wanted to laugh. The shows have canned laughter and applause which doesn't help.

Hello all!  When Vixdad came home Friday night he started running more updates on the computer so it was not accessible to me until now.

Just an observation. I went to Circuit City to see what DVD Blu Ray they have left. They are at 70% off. The picking were slim and even at 70% I didn't see anything I wanted.

BUT

There were two movies at the two locations I visited today that CC must have order with anticipation that they would be huge sellers. They must have had a couple of 100 of each title. They were Hancock and I am A Legend. Both film starred Will Smith. I wonder if there was a connection in so much overstock

Ben - does that mean they know they received the e-mail, but are choosing to ignore it until later?  :)

No.  It just means you sent it to the correct email address and that the next time they open their email it will be there as new mail.  For instance if you sent me an email Friday it would have been received but I wouldn't have known about it until I could get back on the computer today.

"Read" means they actually opened the email.

I have not tried any more food as I am waiting to hear what the therapist has to say.  Unfortunately I may be cancelling tomorrow's appointment as they are forecasting 6 - 10 inches of snow for tomorrow.

The powers that be have already decided to close the schools tomorrow.

If your therapist is in tomorrow & you can't get there, maybe you can ask a few questions over the phone.

DR JOSE I am looking at the information you told me to seek - it reads:
irmware Revision:   A227
  Interconnect:   ATAPI
  Burn Support:   Yes (Apple Shipped/Supported)
  Cache:   2000 KB
  Reads DVD:   Yes
  CD-Write:   -R, -RW
  DVD-Write:   -R, -RW
  Burn Underrun Protection CD:   Yes
  Burn Underrun Protection DVD:   Yes
  Write Strategies:   CD-TAO, CD-SAO, DVD-DAO
  Media:   No

So I am guessing I can write a DVD -R, -RW

My how time flies!
Matt has just left the building after a truly educational and fun Songfest.
We worked out the arrangements (and the keys) for the songs for Dad's memorial service since Matt will be available to play at my church that Sunday.
DR JMK, you should know that after playing through "Because He Lives," Matt did heartily agree that the arranger must have been on drugs. . . :)
So we worked those two songs for a while, at least to the point that we know where we're going with them, then went on to the "let's try this" portion of Sunday Night Songfest.
I know we began with "Errol Flynn," various songs from "Hair," "Mira" from CARNIVAL and finally, we tackled "The Nancy LaMott Songbook" skipping only two or three of the songs therein. ("Just In Time For Christmas" and "Listen to My Heart" are two which we've done in cabarets, so we didn't feel the urge to go at them with so many more wonderful arrangements waiting to be sung).
Special shout-out to DR Edisaurus came as we went over Nancy's arrangements (courtesy of Christopher Marlowe) of "Moon River" and "Skylark."
I suppose I should plop a dvd in now, or, I could read some more of Dan Simmons' wonderful new novel DROOD.
What to do? What to do?

I wish it weren't so, but I fear that there will soon be no mom-and-pop bookstores left in LA and environs - there are only a few now, less than a handful, I think, and they are all in danger of closing, save for the Iliad in North Hollywood, which is, perhaps, my least favorite bookstore of all time - I loathe the people who run it.

BK, LA is not the only problem where this is happening.  Several of my independent bookstores in London had disappeared this last trip. A section of Charing Cross Road that was once a block of used bookstores has lost them right and left to Quiznos and Subways and a myriad of designer coffee shops.

I assume our pals, Malcolm and Christine, at Bookfellows in Glendale are still thriving.  I've always gotten along okay with the people at Illiad and have always had pretty good hunting there.   I enjoyed its messy clutterness... as long as they keep it alphabetized...

Is  Bertram Smith's Acres of Books still in Long Beach?  Acres of Book (and the same Bertram Smith) used to be a staple for me in Cincinnati...five floors of books...and was still there long after Bert moved to Long Beach.  Alas, no longer...

Michael, my buddy Harlan Ellison sent me a boxed set of Carry On movies a while back...I, having remembered Carry On, Cleo fondly from my youth ("Infamy!  Infamy!  They've all got it infamy!).  They are the first dozen or so and I must say so far they have been a bit of a slog to get through...remarkably tedious and unfunny.  I'm puzzled why they are so beloved?

DR CP in Mr Ellison's collection of television criticism - put into a book as THE GLASS TEAT - he never got around to reviewing BRACKEN'S WORLD, but kept promising to.

Fans of Mr Ellison and Bracken's World are still waiting for his thoughts on said series.
