Do you really use vinegar in your laundry?     :)

I am so loving this "interview" with "Lemony Snicket" on "The Today Show".  -Complete with personal violin accompaniment for added dramatic effect.  ;D

I have in the past, but not presently.

However, for how vinegar can added to your personal laundering experience, CLICK HERE.

DR MattH, I don't think The Bachelor After The Rose 2 is just a recap of the season. Apparently after the turn of events last night they need to do another update.

And btw2, I am surprised that some DRs were surprised by the turn of events since they were leaked last week.

Tonight is a 2 hour IDOL. Actually I am more interested in seeing Thursday night's Wild Card show. Curious to know who will be on and how it will work (do the judges vote?)

I think there are some people here who watch this show, but ABC has apparently cancelled LIFE ON MARS. Alathough also apparently they will continue with this season and show the finale.

I am personally really sick of ABC. It's bad enough that they cancel good shows. But for the most part they don't even show the finales (ELI STONE, PUSHING DAISIES, DIRTY SEXY MONEY). Unless one of their new shows really appeals to me I"m not going to watch them.

DR Jennifer - Not all DRs read the "leaks".  And even if we did know what was going to happen in advance, the "execution" of the surprise(s) could not have been properly portrayed in the leaks and spoilers. Cringe, Cringe, Cringe, Cringe.

Apparently part of the reason for the cancellation of the series - and, actually, I believe it's still not an official cancellation - is due to the cost of filming the series in New York City.  I've read a couple of articles over the past few days that production companies - television and movies - are no longer getting the tax breaks they used to get when filming in NYC, thus driving the cost of the filming up.  Some talk shows are even considering on "moving" up to Connecticut.

CORRECTION: I just followed up on the cancellation, and it is indeed cancelled, "won't return for a second season".  However, as DR Jennifer noted, they will "complete" the series.

*There was one funny comment/reason for the cancellation of the series: Whoopi "Kiss of Death" Goldberg.  ;)

They also just need to fill in another slot of programming.  Of course, once "Dancing with the Stars" starts up next week, well, they'll be "full" again.

TOD:

My first internet connection was through Prodigy (about '94 or '95) and there was a theatre bulletin/message board kind of thing going on there that I would post on.  I don't remember ever really getting to know anyone else on there.  I quickly began to realize that it was mostly kids who wanted to talk about nothing else but LES MIZ or PHANTOM.  I kept wondering--where were the adults?

I had a VERY similar experience when I was on Prodigy. I'd go on these theater boards to talk about FOLLIES or ON THE TWENTIETH CENTURY or MAME, and I was looked on as a freak. ALL these folks knew were LES MIZ and PHANTOM, and the Michael Crawford worshippers were so thick that it was sickening. And, of course, since I was not a fan of PHANTOM, I was eprsona non gratia there. I quickly saw the writing on the wall and left.

Good morning!

Bitterly cold here, and even with the bright sunshine, the outside is not a place I'd want to be. It'll be in the 70s by the weekend, but for now, I'll be happy to stay inside.

I'll be working on BATMAN RETURNS today, and if the bonus features don't slow me down, I'll go on to BATMAN FOREVER later tonight.

IDOL is the only show I'll be recording/watching tonight, and I likely won't start watching until 10, so I have most of the evening for work projects.

I still have last week's CSI: NY on the DVR as well as last night's CHUCK and HEROES. I'll do CSI: NY today while I eat lunch, and if there's not enough time tonight to start on BATMAN FOREVER, I'll watch CHUCK.

What a fun trip in the Time Machine.  I was not a DR during the Column A days - so it is nice to read them!

Happy Birthday DR ADRIANA PATTI.

I really wish Rebecca Glasscock would go home - and I think Mr Charles has some inherent interest in her that keeps her safe week after week - there is no other explanation.

As for the Topic of the Day...

I believe I first got online back in 1997 or 1998, and I think I was also on Prodigy like many other DRs. Once AOL came along, I did follow the musical theatre group there for a little while. I also subscribed - and still subscribe - to the Sondheim listserv - which is not as active as it used to be.  -But I think that's just due to the fact that we haven't had a brand new Sondheim show every two to three years.

Well, I'm sorry about LIFE ON MARS, but I have to admit I'm not at all surprised. The ratings weren't great when it was on after GREY'S ANATOMY, and they only went down after moving to WEdnesday night. A real shame.

I have to say that ABC has had quite a few promising procedurals in the last few years that they've let slip through their fingers: IN JUSTICE, THE EVIDENCE, EYES, WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB, and now LIFE ON MARS. Unlike CBS which seems to be able to launch procedurals with the blink of the CBS eye, ABC can't seem to get even one to do well for them. Serialized dramas seem to be their forte.

TOD:

I was on a computer in 1992 - but did not get onto the Inner Nit until 1998.  My sister Molly began surfing the year before and I was fascinated.

The first two sites I visited were EBAY and YAHOO.  I don't remember that I discovered message board or newsgroups for another year or so.

My first ISP was Freeweb, which was indeed a free dial up service.

DR Michael Shayne is absolutely correct that the first foray for me into the world of cyberspace was on Fidonet where bulletin boards like GREASEPAINT (where I first met him) and FILM (which I moderated for a while) were the popular means of communication.

I was using my Atari 800XL with a 1200 baud modem then (I had upgraded from a 300 baud modem). My lord, how far we've progressed since those days!
