I am getting really tired of the shock of newscasters at the fact the people in Fargo volunteered so much to fill sand bags etc.   I would have been shocked if they hadn't.  I just don't believe that people wouldn't come out anywhere if they knew there was a way to prevent their town/house from being destroyed.  This isn't something new.

And, I know I posted this yesterday, but after reading it again this morning, I just have to post it again.  Truly one of the best essays on Why Music is Important, and Why Music Still Matters - and always has.

I suppose I'm up.  A little gray out - perhaps it will burn off, but I'm doing the long jog anyway.

Dear reader Sam, Mission Hills is about fifteen or twenty minutes from the City Of Studio - straight up the 405 (or Sepulveda) to Devonshire, I think, and then a little north of that - at the Guest House Inn (formerly Mission Hills Inn) 10621 Sepulveda Blvd. (west side of the street).  Be there or be round.  I sign from two to three.

I was thinking the same thing last night.  -Especially when they were interviewing people who had been through previous floods.

Greetings from Fort Atkinson.

Anthony is at Sentry, the grocery store and I have a few minutes before we leave for Brunch at the theatre and then two performances of The Fantasticks.

It has snowed here. When I arrived on Friday there was not a flake anywhere. The weather was in the low 30s. Last evening after the show a light snowfall began and by the time we woke up this morning there was about 2 1/2 inches of snow. Very pretty! Then I went out to clear off the car while Anthony took care of some things in the house. I haven't done that in years and years (clear off a car covered in snow, that is). It was actually kind of fun. I don't know that I would want to do it on a regular basis again but it was easy. The snow wasn't a frozen kind so it didn't take all that much time.

The show is excellent. I'll be seeing it three times total (yesterday and then two performances today, they only had one matinee yesterday due to less than stellar ticket sales). Today I'll see one of the understudies go on as Luisa. The director wanted to give her a chance to perform the show and the actress playing Luisa was fine with that so she will have an afternoon off and perform againg this evening.

Anthony (as you might expect) was wonderful as Bellomy, Luisa's father.

Good morning!

We finally have blue sky!! And temps are supposed to be in the high 60s today, so it should be a very pretty day.

Why am I so late logging onto the site?

TAXES!!!!!

Yep, I spent all morning (from a little after 7 until 1:30) doing my federal and state income taxes. It was backbreaking and headache-inducing work even using  a tax program since I have all these portfolio transactions that have to be listed and that take forever to enter.

But the happy news is that for the first time in many years, I'm getting money back from both federal and state. That makes all the trauma this morning worth it.

Last night, I actually talked myself out of doing them today, but I woke up at 6:30 thinking about them, and not knowing how busy my week might be with work, I thought I might as well go ahead and do them. So, now I'm glad I did.

Hello, everyone.

OK, here's a question for anyone: Doubletree Inn has a commercial running that features the voice of a black female. Neither DF&H or I can place the voice. Has anyone else heard the commercial and recognized the voice?

However, I had planned on working on DOUBT (Blu-ray) today, but I'm really not in the mood to do any work having just spent all these hours this morning working. I may watch the movie tonight and work on the bonus features tomorrow. Since there is nothing on TV I'm interested in tonight, that may be the best solution.

I'll take the afternoon off.

In fact, I'm heading down now to get some lunch. It's almost 2 p.m. here, and I didn't even have a sip of water for breakfast this morning.

Good Afternoon!

And it really is a nice and sunny day here in Mt. Pleasant too. Perfect for sipping on a Tall Cafe Americano, nibbling on a Bluberry Scone while sitting at an outside table at Starbucks. :)
