And from the New York Times' Arts Beat Blog...

Recently, members of the original(!) cast of South Pacific attended a performance of the current revival of South Pacific...

If you go to that article, there are sounds clips from some of the original demos with Richard Rodgers playing, as well as some video from the current production.

Additionally, there is a wonderful Interactive Feature with interviews from the original and current cast members of South Pacific.

...And it would have been quite interesting to see what stories would be out there right now had Camille Saviola stayed on as Emma Goldman.  ;)

I always wondered why she didn't, in the first place.

Ummm... Let's just say there were enough stories from the Toronto try-out. ;)

DR Jose is your car a rental?  If so the company should drive out and exchange the car for you.

It's the theatre's company car.  So... Just waiting for some of the staff to come back from dinner to see exactly how to proceed.

Good Afternoon!

Well... I decided to head out for a bit, mainly to get out of the office just to get some fresh air.  I figured I might as well drive across the Ravenel Bridge, and wander around a bit before heading back for tonight's rehearsal.  Well...

As I left the parking lot, I thought I heard a knocking sound coming from somewhere on the passenger side of the car.  It only got louder as I approached the bridge.  However, once I was on the bridge and driving at speed (55mph - which is strictly enforced here), the sound disappeared.  That was until I took the exit for Meeting Street.  As I slowed down the knocking "appeared" again, and got louder and to the point where I could feel it in the floorboards.  Most definitely not a good thing.  So, I turned around as soon as I was able to, and headed back to the theatre.  -And, yes ,the knocking continued.

Our Bialystock actually does work on cars, and I'll see if he can take the car for a drive around the parking lot before or after rehearsal, just to make sure it's "safe".  It could just be something off-balance, or maybe a piston, or... However, I sense it may have something to do with one of the tire's ball and/or CV joints, and, if so, I definitely don't and won't feel safe driving back to the apartment tonight - especially since I have to be on the highway for part of that drive.  Hmm...

Are you sure it's not last night's date trying to get out of the trunk?

DR ARNOLD BROCKMAN

How was the final cabaret show of the season?

And who do they have lined up for next year!

+

I did not like the last Cabaret, Too Cutesy. Maureen Brennan(she co-conceived the show) has a "look at me,I'm performing" attitude. I would like to know your opinion.
Next Year looks very promising

WILL & ANTHONY NUNZIATA(have you ever heard of them?)

TONY DANZA

CHRISTINE ANDREAS

ADAM PASCAL

and the special Show-  CHRISTINE EBERSOLE

I have not heard of WILL & ANTHONY NUNZIATA.  But...... http://www.willandanthony.com/

I am not sure how well Adam Pascal will go over with the crowd at the Crest. Adam Who? He was in Aida? What was Aida?

I really don't want to see Christine Ebersole again. I liked her but not enough to see her again a year later. If I don't have to get tickets to her show I won't.

CHRISTINE ANDREAS is spectacular and I would see her again. I saw her at the Colony in West Palm a few tears ago.

Which leads us to Tony Danza....

Now it will behoove us to see who will be here next year as some people always drop out. Sammy Williams was supposed to be here this year and was so was Jerry Lanning doing the Harnick show,

Mark Keller who produces these shows also put together the Harnick Show.

Are they having problems getting the big name people?

Another one to report....actor Jody McCrea (son of Joel McCrea and Frances Dee) died of cardiac arrest on April 4th at age 74.

Here he is in one of the many "Beach Party" films of the 60s.

Bud Shank lived in Port Townsend for the past several years and had a great Jazz Festival in the summer there every year.  Port Townsend is where I managed to find the two Jonathan & Darlene Edwards CDs in a little CD store after having looked for them for years all over the place.
