Had a fun evening of viewing. I began by watching THE PRINCE & THE PAUPER starring Mickey Mouse. Didn't I just watch this yesterday? Yep, but in the DVD I reviewed yesterday, Disney framed it at 1.33:1 and in the Disney tin of a few years ago, it was framed at 1.66:1 and anamorphically enhanced. Anyone who says this doesn't make a hell of a difference in one's perceptions about a movie need only compare these two encodes of the same movie to see what a difference it makes. As a widescreen feature, it seems like a REAL movie, not like an episode of a TV program. (It was made to be shown with THE RESCUERS DOWN UNDER in theaters.)
I guess Disney framed it at 1.33:1 for the new release so it would pair nicely with the other four shorts on the disc which were all 1.33:1. For me, that's not a good reason.
