Well, you've read the notes, the notes were high, and how it is time for you to post until the high cows come home - they've just taken a LOT of cowcaine.

I've tried pot once, but I couldn't get the pipe lit, or keep it lit.  That's about the extend of that.

I, like BK, have never partoken of any non-prescription drug.  I had a roommate in college who did the dube, but I never liked the smell of it.  I don't even like regular cigarette smoke.  And as for anything else, I've never known anyone who's done anything else...and I don't want to.

Lovely stories from yesterday.

So anyway - now I am IN Kiss Me Kate as Ralph, so there you are.  I also get to choreograph Brush Up Your Shakespeare which makes me happier than being Ralph.

I have no HIGH times.....

I shall return later.

DR George:  I believe the accurate spelling for "dube" would be "doob", or short for "doobie".  And then, there's the "Doobie Brothers" to remember if you have second doubts.  Or, just remember "Scoobie Doobie Doo"!

Good morning, all! Last night, I continued watching MARTIN CHUZZLEWIT, which has a character modeled on Moliere's Tartuffe and excellently acted by Tom Wilkinson, and by the end of episode 5 I was so curious to know the denouement that I watced the entire rhing and got to bed arond 1:30. For a comedy, it's quite dark, involving parricide, murder, spousal abuse and a Madoff ponzi scheme that bankrupts several impotant characters. The cast was fantastic: Paul Scofield as brothers Martin and Anthony Chuzzlewit, John Mills. Elizabeth Spriggs as Sairey Gamp, the world's drunkest and worst nurse ever, an actor I don't recall seeing, Philip Franks, as the kindly, but duped, Mr Tom Pinch, and the wonderful Julia Sawalha as Mery Pecksniff, who goes from filrtatious girl to terrified and battered wife; she had my favorite line "When you married me, you broke my spirit. Don't break my heart as well." I realy limked this miniseries.

Today, I need to add footnotes to my Main Report on BABES IN TOYLAND. We've put in a request for a new office manager, since we've lost the wonderful Matthew Brookshire, but the institute is moving slowly in replacing him, and I will soon get tired of begging for one. I dislike begging as much as I dislike being a scapegoat for administrative incompetence.

TOD: It all comes out in the memoirs.

BK, I've never done "recreational" drugs either.  I don't like to be out of control...to say nothing of the havoc drugs can wreak on one's body and mind.

My one experience happened  shortly after college.  I was working in Texas and came back to visit some friends in Lexington.  Remember the other day, when I told you about my friend who had discovered "the Method" in England.  Well, this time he had "discovered" weed and was extolling its virtues.

He offered me a brownie, which I naively thought was just a brownie, but as I took a big bite into it...I knew it was laced with pot.  I was about to spit it out but I thought, "Oh, Chuck, don't be a prude all your life.  At least try it once...to say you have", so I hate the rest of the brownie.

My friend then insisted that we go see the STORY OF O that was playing downtown, so I could experience the movie while I was high.  The only thing was, I didn't feel high at all...I didn't feel anything.  He kept raving about the experience, but if anything, all it did...maybe...was seem to accentuate the colours a bit.

Now moving into high gear on his mission of converting me to the joys of pot.  He insisted we smoke a hooka.  One problem.  I don't smoke.  I've never smoked.  I've always found it a filthy habit.  I'm the one guy who will cut Clinton some slack when he says he "didn't inhale", because I had problems with that task myself.  I tried to inhale, but I didn't know how.

All my attempt at smoking a hooka did was make me queasy...the act of trying to force smoke into my lungs, not the pot.  I quickly gave up...and continued to feel nothing.  Or so I thought...but sometime in the evening, I must have passed out.  I awoke on the floor of his living-room the next morning, my throat was raw and in pain.   I thought, my voice is my profession...if this is what smoking pot does to your throat, never again!

And it's been "never again" ever since.  I just don't get it.  What's the allure?  What's the point?  To say nothing of the expense!

Tuesday morning greetings!  Another April-showers day here in SW Ohio - at least this week they're not snow showers!

TOD - I've never even smoked a regular cigarette, although my lungs took in plenty of second-hand smoke when I was growing up (both parents smoked - my mother quit when I was in college, but my dad never did).  When I was doing community theater, I was always afraid that I'd get a part that required smoking and someone would have to teach me.

DH Richard and I tried to watch The Changeling last night and gave up after about 20 minutes - bad writing, bad acting.

Add MARTIN CHUZZLEWIT to your Netflix list. It's 3 episodes per side of the disc so you'll gewt the whole shebang on one DVD.

Time for a walk.

Where are you going for your walk, Elmore?

I read in the paper that after three attempts, our giant  $2.4 million floating jellyfish public art piece is finally in place. Maybe I'll go photograph that today.
