Peter Sellers as Clouseau in the later Pink Panther Films

[Clouseau is having the hotel bellboy spy on Lady Lytton]
Clouseau: How long have you been a bellboy?
Bellboy: Oh, too long, Monsieur.
Clouseau: Keep up the good work, and I shall see to it you become a bell *man*.

Clouseau: Tell me do you have a reum?
Hotel Clerk: I do not know what a 'reum' is.
Clouseau: [looks up the word 'room' in his German dictionary] Zimmer.
Hotel Clerk: Ah, a 'room'.
Clouseau: That is what I have been saying, you idiot. Reum. Zimmer.

Clouseau: Now, this time *I'm* going to stand on *your* shoulders!
Cato: What good will that do?
Clouseau: Because I'm taller than you are, you fool!

DR MattH, i know what you mean re: the show. I was sweating bullets too.  I was
just hoping my fav (adam) would not go home. I don't necessarily think it was a
bad thing for him to be in the B2. It will serve as a wake-up call. But i was really
concerned he was gonna get the boot. I agree with who went home. But how
interesting that allison, who has been in the bottom a few times is now #2.

Harvey Firestein in Torch Song Trilogy

I think my biggest problem is being young and beautiful. It's my biggest problem because I've never been young and beautiful. Oh, I've been beautiful, and God knows I've been young, but never the twain have met.

A ugly person who goes after a pretty person gets nothing but trouble. But a pretty person who goes after a ugly person gets at least cab fare.

At 13 I knew everything. Senility set in sometime after that.

That scene in "Shall We Dance" when he tries to spell out the name of the jail.

I had a telephone conversation like that once. DR Sandra was in stitches.

Nathan Lane in The Birdcage

Oh yes... Coldeman. The "d" is silent in America. It's Cole D'Isle au Man, or Cole of the Isle of Man, in France, where Armand's chateau is, Cold-e-man in Greece where Armand's work is, and finally the vulgar Coleman in Florida where Armand's home is, so actually, we don't know where we are until we hear our last name pronounced! Ahahahahahahaaaaa!

Good morning!

Supposed to be a bit cooler and cloudy with rain later, but so far this morning, none of those things seem to be happening. It's beautiful, turning warm, and no rain in sight.

Looks like CBS is not airing HARPER'S ISLAND for the rest of the sweeps ratings period due to its faltering ratings. My morning newspaper said WITHOUT A TRACE will air tonight at 10.

I will do no work today until the Fox Blu-rays arrive. Right now, I'm planning to do them in the following order:

BRIDE WARS
THE WRESTLER
X-MEN TRILOGY
NOTORIOUS

There is a method to my madness. I plan to work on the first two in the afternoons and watch an X-MEN film in the early evening. By the third day, that will leave the last X-MEN film to watch. Of the four items, NOTORIOUS is the one I'm least looking forward to viewing.

So many already mentioned.....but I will add:

Lucille Ball in The Fuller Brush Girl

Rosalind Russell in His Girl Friday

Jonathan Winters in The Russians Are Coming - "We've got to git organized!"

James Cagney in One Two Three

Glenda Jackson in A Touch of Class....."Make a reservation!"....."Press THAT in your book of memories!"

AND

Miss Kay Kendall and Miss Angela Lansbury in THE RELUCTANT DEBUTANTE.
Kendall on the telephone to Lansbury: "Stop picking your nose.......no not you, darling, I was talking to Jane.  Oh you were?  At the same time?  What a remarkable coincidence!"

In today's column, BK wrote:

The male ensemble is a little more difficult because one of them has to play the Stunt C*c* and the others have to play the backers – so these guys have to have a lot of acting versatility and still be attractive and able to sing and dance.

In this sentence, is "versatility" a euphemism?

DR Matt H, would that I could! I was so engrossed in a score I was reading that Imissed thew 28th Street stop, so I ended up at 23rd Street and walked up. I stopped at Whole Foods and bought a 12-pack of bottled water for the office refrigerator, and here I am.

I'm going through various and sundry orchestra scores at the office, and around 1 a director friend will show up for lunch. I wonder if he's in the mood for Chinese food? The restaurant on 28th and Seventh has the most glorious ginger shrimp. On my way back uptown, I will stop at a post office and mail three packages of CDs to friends in Manhattan (HENRY SWEET HENRY), Los Angeles (a John McGlinn recording) and San Francisco (the 1986 premiere of my Cole porter restoration JUBILEE, which the 42nd Street Moon is sort of doing in their next season).

DR ELmore,

I'm envious that you have friends who might consider Chinese. I'm going out with friends to lunch today (as usual), and none of them ever want to do Chinese.
