I should say I was no Trekkie.  We watched it and laughed at it.  I wouldn't enjoy it with realistic effects

Me, neither, nor would I remotely qualify as a Trekkie.  Wouldn't be caught dead in a costume at a convention...but I might go just to experience it.

I had a friend growing up who was a total Trekkie.  She had the outfit, the Enterprise, you name it, she had it.  I wasn't into it, but how do you argue with "Live long and prosper"?

I didn't watch any of the TV shows other than the original.   Wasn't Lost in Space on at about the same time?   Now I loved that "DANGER WILL ROBINSON!"

It's a beautiful day here.  I walked over to what passes as a deli in Iowa for lunch and could have stayed outside all day.  My window is open and the breeze feels great.

I, like DAW, have never seen Star Trek. I may be a geek but, like many sub-groups, my geekiness exerts itself in only one or two areas and Star Trek was never one of those areas.

Not even once on TV in th 60s?

I have seen bits and pieces but not enough (for me) to say that I saw Star Trek. I never saw the movies or any of the other television spin offs.

It's chilly in Manhattan but tomorrow is supposed to be beautiful. We will be going to Long Island for the Memorial Day weekend and, of course, Saturday and Sunday are supposed to be rainy. Oh, well.

It's supposed to get down to a brisk 92 degrees by the end of this week.  I hope I haven't packed all my sweaters away!

BIG time LOST IN SPACE fan here.  Loved it all, from the initial serious and scary first episodes right on through to the space hippies and carrot man of the third and final season (though I didn't like Penny Robinson's young teen-age dress in the third season.  Whay would a young girl in space suddenly elect to start wearing a dress and putting her hair up?  To attract Don?  Forget it, honey--you sister's got that one!)

My other new idea for a TV series:  a bunch of old white economists perform skit and blackout comedy --

That's 2 [two] "Feh!"s.

At least, it's a beautifully sunny and cool(er) day here in Richmond - mid-60s.  I believe I'm going to head out and take a nice walk in Carytown.  Steve told me that one of my favorite stores, Lane Sanson, closed up shop rather abruptly in April.  I want to go by and say Goodbye in person, I guess.

The Richmond Men's Chorus, which Steve plays for, is also giving a preview of their Spring concert tonight at 7:00, and I may head to that, and then stick around for the usual post-concert dinner with the "Mens".  Otherwise, it's just going to be a day of resting and recovering and doing laundry.  And I believe I'll be heading back to NYC tomorrow night or Wednesday morning.

As for the Topic of the Day...

I believe I may have watched or semi-watched every episode of the original "Star Trek" series over the years.  It was just always on at one point or another. The same goes for "TNG". Channel 20 in Washington, DC, would show blocks of "Star Trek" and "TNG" twice a day once "TNG" hit syndication.  And I know I watched a smattering of episodes of "DS9", "B5" and "E".

As for the movies, I'm pretty sure I saw the first two in the theatres.  And I know I saw the one with Donna Murphy in it.  But that's about it.

*I shall save my Wil Wheaton story for another day.

I moved my portable AC unit into the living room over the weekend and stayed cool that way (along with having my balcony umbrella open to deflect the sun and my curtains drawn to deflect light).

At night, it cooled off sufficiently for me to sleep comfortably with only three fans circulating the air in my bedroom (one in the window blowing air in, one on the floor moving air up and one in the door moving air out).

I have ordered an industrial-strength oscillating fan to set up on those hot days when air movement is critical in my condo.  Even when it cools down at night, vast pockets of warm air seem to pervade.  I went 'em gone, I tell ya....GONE.
