Some people have taken my MISS CALIFORNIA parody of "I'm Just Wild About Harry" (parody is "I'm just Wild About Carrie"), and been giving the video of the parody 1's (on the scale of 5) for no other apparent reason than they're obviously upset by the subject matter.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mfpBpRLZ_I

The discussion started off normal for a parody, but the last twenty or so comments have gotten very very serious about the subject matter, so much so that I adjusted the title line, and in capital letters spelled out that it's a COMEDY video.

The serious themed comments don't bother me, but the folks rating it a 1 because of the ideas expressed bother me.

Of course, that's an assumption I'm making that the series of 1's are because of the point of view.

Oh, I forgot to mention that last night, based on recommendations from several people, I began watching The Reader.  I lasted exactly three minutes and then shut off the disc and it's on the trade pile - can anyone guess why I bailed?

The Vomiting?

Bingo (ognib, spelled backwards).  I will no longer watch any film with vomiting on screen.  If directors can't figure out how to not show people spewing chunks, then they are stupid, ignorant cretins and should not be allowed behind a camera.

DR dB - if the artist was trying to create a realistic landscape, they need to see their eye doctor...

My printer has suddenly and mysteriously started printing everything in reverse.  ???   And no, the "mirror" effect was not inadvertently checked off.

I can now read my printouts only if I hold them up to a mirror.

That is not a painting - it is a photo of a house for sale in LA:
LUXIST ( The Ben Rose house, the site of Ferris Bueller's Day Off)

The garage:

I think DR DAW might have been referring to the painting in said garage.

You're probably correct. (The painting is in the main house, not the garage, although they look similar.)

When Richard and I watched The Reader, I said, "Oh, boy, BK isn't gonna like this!" as that scene was unfolding!

Do I get a sparkling prize?

Oy, the negotiating I have been doing to book next season's Rave in the Nave.  My favorite so far--a certain woman with whom BK and I worked lived up to her "blonde" status when I asked her if she would be available June 5 or June 12, thinking that it was more or less obvious I was booking for next year's series (hence the 09-10 in the subject line).  She responded she couldn't get anything together that quickly.  I have reminded her that 13 months is usually enough time to get her act together and take it on the road.  :)

Back from the long jog and will now go sit at Hugo's or somewhere else for an hour or so to get a respite from the noise.

The upcoming SAG vote is burning up several PDX listserves.  That's what happens when suddenly your little burg is housing a television series or two.

I'm not a fan of the stage version of CHESS (dreadfully long and dull in the version I saw), but I do like the score.

Reprise! at UCLA, which Mark and I get season tickets for every year, was scheduled to run CHESS this month, but had to cancel it and ran The Fantasticks instead. We were really disappointed - Mark had heard that CHESS was good and I already saw The Fantasticks years ago, but since no one here seems to like CHESS, I'm not so disappointed anymore.

We just got another spring shower. Very mild and only lasted for a few moments, but there it is, more rain. I have a feeling I'm going to be mowing the front yard this weekend.

I watched RESCUE ME from last night as I ate lunch today. Very good drunk hallucination showcase for Denis Leary in the first half of the episode, and I was on the edge of my seat over what was going on. The second half was decidedly different in tone, but still very enjoyable. I suspect Leary will use this episode for his Emmy submission.

Then I started on my work project: DOCTOR DOLITTLE: MILLION DOLLAR MUTTS. I've never seen any of the DOCTOR DOLITTLE remake or sequels, and this is the FIFTH in the series! How funny that the human star of the picture isn't even portrayed on the cover, but the various talking animals in the film are.

Suffice to say this is a kids' movie. Certainly it's innocuous enough to use as a babysitter, but there certainly wasn't anything here to hold my interest if I wasn't having to review it.

There were three bonus featurettes on the disc, none lasting longer than 8 minutes, however, about various aspects of the production. But that was all, so since the movie only ran 86 minutes and the three featurettes ran about a total of 18 minutes, I had a nice chunk of the afternoon left.

I watched an NCIS episode from season three. It was the one about a reality show featruing supermodels on a marine base. Good mystery and an enjoyable episode.
