I'm up.  I slept until the doorbell rang - no workers this morning - heaven.

Good caper choices.  I wonder if Bronislau Kaper ever scored a caper film?

I wonder if I should go do the long jog - it looks dreary outside.

If anyone wants a free pair of third-row tickets to THE WIZ and can get over here to pick up the tickets and then get to City center to see the show at 2, they're very welcome to the tickets.

From Jose:
Quote
DR Jane - Lovely photos!  -And did you sing or hum, "Wonderful, wonderful Copenhagen" as you made your way through the gardens?

Thanks.  We were disappointed how few gardens were at the gardens.  Even if I could sing I doubt I would have. ;D

The best garden was through a kiddie car ride.  I teased Keith for wanting to go on it & then insisted we go again before we left.

Gee, even if I was across the hall from you, Fred, I think I would have to pass on that offer.

I'm having a volatile and amusing correspondence (via eBay) with an idiot seller who's listing a first edition, first printing of Exodus.  He's got photos of the jacket and the copyright page - no price on the jacket and no statement of first edition in his photos, hence he is selling a book club edition, which is worth about ten cents rather than the sixty bucks he's trying to rook someone out of.  I wrote him and told him, and he sent me an offensive response.  I then wrote him back and told him I was reporting his fraudulent and now willfully wrong listing to eBay, which I then did.  I have a copy of the first edition and I gave him all the points.  Then he wrote me an even more offensive response, told me I was a coward for hiding behind e-mail (oh, will he find out how incorrect THAT is), and then said if I had anything further to say I should call him on his cell - and then gave me that number.  :)  If it's real, he will be getting a call later this afternoon and it shall be ever so much fun.

Yes.  The new board software seems to only offer the one option.      :(

From a book I'm reading:

Quote
While at the University of California, Santa Barbara, James Welch was asked to demonstrate the Flentrop pipe organ for a big music appreciation class.  Welch: "I played some Bach for them, and when I started, a young woman behind me said, quite audibly, "Look! He's playing music by hand!"  I guess it had never occurred to her that music could come out of anything other than loud-speakers, and was produced somehow mysteriously."

I guess it is true.  A few weeks ago, on Pentecost Sunday, the other three male section leaders and I sang the plainsong chant "Veni Creator Spiritus" from the balcony, unaccompanied, behind the congregation.  Apparently someone asked one of the ushers if it was a recording.     :-\

If you lived across the hall it would be about 72 degrees this afternoon and mostly sunny.

Saturday afternoon greetings!  Had my hair cut this morning and have been running errands ever since.  Now I'm glad to be back home in the air-conditioning.  It's still hot here in SW Ohio, but not as humid as yesterday.

And things just get worse and worse for Ohio libraries:

State budget cuts could close some libraries

DR td re-posted this clip of Dorothy Loudon singing "Fifty Percent" over at Facebook.  It seems that the Tonys have have ongoing sound problems for years.    :-\    But that doesn't detract too much from her fabulous performance.

And HERE she is 20 years later, singing it on "My Favorite Broadway: the Leading Ladies." ;D

Listening to a Dick Contino LP and contemplating my navel doing some house work.

But first I think I will shop at Ebay.

I must now get myself to work.  I need to make up a few hours (as usual).  Tonight, we're having a cue-to-cue tech rehearsal.  Hopefully, we'll most likely be able to skip all the long speeches and go through the show quickly. ;)

Have a good day, all!
