Next, I watched last night's FLASHPOINT episode while I ate lunch. I kept thinking that this would be the first episode I'd get through without it making me cry (it was about a sniper picking off law enforcement officers), and darn if I did have tears rolling down my cheeks by the time it was over. (One of the regulars got shot, and her boy friend, also on the team, was very upset about it.)

Next, I cued up my work disc in the Blu-ray player and began each of the bonus features, noting which ones were in 1080p and which were in 1080i. That info will get incorporated in the review when I revise it later this evening.

One of the movies that was playing on cable when I finished FLASHPOINT was LIFE AFTER TOMORROW, the documentary about the girls who had played Annie or an orphan in the original show or national tours. So, I watched it this afternoon. Some funny, sad, and moving stories from those now grown up ladies about life on the road or on Broadway as young celebrities.

I listened to the new West Side Story album - terrible.

I completely agree.  The strings are ragged and the orchestra sounds thin to me.  I had meaning to back to the original cast recording for a comparison.

Today we are going to see the tour of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

I did not enjoy the show when I saw it on Broadway. I hope you have a better time.

That's disappointing. Much of this season was disappointing.

Our local seasone was disappointing too.   they have already changed next years schedule.  No Drowsy Chaperone or Cry Baby. Now it's The Wedding Singer and Beauty and The Beast instead

DR MattH, sorry you did not like the shopaholic movie. I thought you would like it more than you did. Although i guess if the premise annoyed you there is not really much isla fisher could do. That is exactly who the character is. And while she was completely irresponsible with her money, in the books especially you really get to know and like her.

It's a chilly and rainy day in Manhattan.

I'm glad Jose got to use the tickets for The Wiz. If we had been feeling better (Anthony is a bit under the weather also), I would have grabbed them. I've only seen the movie and I am not a fan of that particular stage to screen transfer.

The Wiz was the first show I saw on Broadway back in 1977...March 10, 1977, I think.

I'm not a big fan of caper movies, but I do like THE ASPHALT JUNGLE very much.

Just realized when I was 14 and did some work on a Starlight Musical production of WEST SIDE STORY that came through town....starring Anna Maria Alberghetti....that I also worked with....well at the same theatre with...a future Academy Award Winner who was also later involved in one of Hollywood's most enduring mysteries.

Thank you for the vibes for my sister. She should be feeling better in about a week. Then she will enjoy the rest of the summer.

We just had our Father's Day dinner - baked salmon, corn on the cob, green beans - yum!  Rob is home to go to church in Lima with us tomorrow.

I was wrong.

When I am, I say it.

Tonight I watched HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL - the original - and it was an enjoyable way to spend a couple of hours.  Zac Efron was very good, the songs were bouncy, and the story was interesting.  I also liked the adults.  Lots of cliches on view....but then again....most of us ARE cliches.

I still have NO desire to see the stage version, but the liked the characters enough to watch HSM2 and HSM3 when they show up on my TV screen.

I think DR MATTH had some nice things to say about the show....and MR BK and possibly DR JMK also had good words for it, so I am glad I broke down a watched it.

I was wrong....it was NOT what I thought it was or would be.
