This little twerp's obnoxious "Star Search" arrangement and the audience's appreciation of it say a lot about what is wrong with entertainment today.

I wish someone would teach me pinochle. The game has always looked like fun, but I've never had anyone sit me down and teach me how to play.

A friend taught me to play pinochle and cribbage once.  They were both fun, but I've completely forgotten how to play both games.

Is Tom Cruise going to play Roger Federer in the movie??

I've always thought it was a little unfair that the men get a trophy and the women get a plate. I know it's a tradition, and it'll never change, but it doesn't seem quite equitable.

But the plate can be use for the Passover Sedar and the cup can't

Here's the new sign that went up throughout the library system from which I just retired:

I did get BURN NOTICE - Season 2 on Blu-ray in the mail today, so that will be my work project for tomorrow (and likely Wednesday as well).

I'm jumping off-line now to get some writing done. Then, I'll head back downstairs and have a carefree evening of leisure viewing.

TRIVIA QUESTION OF WHICH I HAVE NO ANSWER:

Was HAIR the last time a cast recording topped the album charts?

Well one would have to define album chart. Does that include Crossovers or Soundtracks?

I think "A Chorus Line" and "Annie"  might have been on the top once

I can’t remember which country we saw far more practical crutches & canes.  They had a brace for the arm to slip into.  They might not have looked as nice but I can guarantee, especial the cane replacement, was far steadier & safer.

DR Cilla, vibes your father doesn’t fall while using his crutches.

Dropping by again to say hi.  This will probably not translate well to the printed page, but I was watching TAKEN last night and I got to that point where Liam Neeson says "I have a set of very specific skills," at which point the boys (who obviously have inherited my outre sense of humor) said from the other room:

(in a high Monty Python voice) I can talk in this high squeaky voice while flapping my arms like a dodo.  I also crochet lovely sweaters.  And if you press my belly button, I sing Ode to Joy backwards in German.

I was laughing so hard I could barely breathe.

I have to say, they really knew how to make great-sounding albums back then - especially at Columbia.  They should be required listening for any wannabe record producer.

Of course, I've spent my recording career trying to make albums that sound like those albums, and I think Vinnie and I succeeded more often than not.

I'm starving.  At three, I shall go out and find something amusing to eat.  There's a new jernt on Ventura Blvd. called The Counter, which is basically a build your own burger place.  I've driven by several times and it's been jammed with hordes of the kind of peoples that I loathe.

Johnny's singing the most romantic Stairway To The Stars ever.

I had forgotten just how therapeutic a good cleaning jag can be.

The Counter makes a good burger.  I believe I may have dined at one when I was out there last year.  And I've also dined at their Charlotte, NC, location.

bk - If you want to cut down on your in-store time, you can study the MENU in advance, and formulate your personal burger before you get there.

If any of them are the ones orchestrated by Percy Faith, Percy was hands-on involved in all aspects of the engineering, especially with regard to mic placement around the orchestra.

Has any DR looked at this?  Reactions??

Last night, one of the guys in the show brought a book to rehearsal, "ZOMBIE HAIKU."  It's very funny!

However... Broadway Bares does have its own website now.  *You will have to certify that you are at least 18 years of age in order to view the site.

Thanks for sharing...I'll check this out, later tonight (much, much later) after rehearsal. ;)

Unbelievable department:  We took part in Gabe's magazine subscription drive for his school and got him and Zach Electronic Gaming Monthly, which gives updates on XBox games, etc.  Well, evidently EGM ceased publication in January 2009 (first interesting fact).  Because lo and behold what should arrive in today's mail but the soft-core porn magazine Maxim, with a note attached saying our subscription to EGM had been transferred to Maxim.  I truly cannot believe the lack of judgment, not to mention the legalities involved--all of you know I am about as far from being a prude as you can get, but to send this in place of a magazine meant for a 10 and 12 year old is absurd.

The library where I work frequently has magazine substitutions when something is no longer published, but I don't ever remember hearing about a switch like this!  Of course, if it did happen here, the library branch(es) could easily shelve it in the adult (not that kind of "adult" ;)) magazine section.
