It's about time to head off for dinner. I hope I'm back by 9 because I think I can catch the rerun of last week's THE FASHION SHOW on Bravo.

DR Jose, I didn't watch NYC PREP last night; I see enough obnoxious Manhattan school kids daily.

I think DRs JRand58 and MBarnum will be thrilled that my friend Daniel is borrowing my DVD of THE QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE, so I'm taking that with me when I leave.

Ginny, I (and Anthony) would much rather have lunch with you and Richard but it looks like it will have to be on your next trip. Both presentations (which will go smoothly at least on my part) will take up much time on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Maybe I'll see you for the millisecond that you're at the FC.

What happened to Monday?

On the celebrity search front, we've tracked down David Garrison, Teresa Stratas, and Frederica von Stada this morning. Roberta Peters is the only singer to work with John McGlinn we cannot locate.

I adore David Garrison.

I had a nice walk in Lithia Park today with my hiking group, short but sweet.  After a quick snack I took Sherlock to the trails for our regular hike.

Next week we plan to go to Grizzly Peak, about a 45 minute drive & a good hike.  I went online to try and find how many miles our hike will be and found the name of the restaurant in Ann Arbor with the great wild mushroom veggie burger & sweet potato fries.  It is Grizzly Peak Brewing Company.

Ginny, have you eaten there?

I see that the Academy is going to have 10 Best Picture nominees this year. I think this is a STUPID change. They have a hard enough time ferreting out five nominees each year.

Sure, in the old days, they used to nominate 10, but back then, there were easily 10 films to fill those slots. They've been nominating only five since 1944. I see no reason to change, especially in an era where really good films are scarce, not abundant.

Keith mentioned it & my first reaction was that they could have up to 10 nominees, not that they had to nominate that many.  My way seems more reasonable.  Keith said it is a marketing gimmick to get more people to see the nominated films.

There aren't 10 good movies made a year anymore!

Thank you for the beautiful floor and ceiling and door photos, Jane. I am sure Keith denied knowing you when you took them. :)

My DH and I took a nice walk today. I think I am going to get my shower and consider myself "in for the night." Perhaps I'll have a photo or two to share.

No, DR Jane, remember I moved from there 36 years ago and have not even been back to visit since DS Rob's 17th birthday in 2002.  Richard and I will sometime spend the week between Lima Sundays in Michigan because I've been wanting to go back to Ann Arbor.

Apparently, our Ohio governor went on the radio today to say that some groups were exagerating the impact his proposed cuts would have on their agencies.  I'd rather he'd have gone to Argentina.

DR Ginny, the restaurant was there in 2002. ;)

LOL!  We arrived late Friday evening, did the "prospective Freshman and his parents" thing on Saturday morning, went to the Michigan football game in the afternoon (where it was so hot, I almost passed out walking back from the stadium), had dinner at our hotel with my friend who teaches at Eastern Michigan, and came home Sunday.  See why I want some extended time in ol' A2?

Yes, he has a wife, but I don't know how she feels about him going to Argentina.

Of course you went to a football game.  What a shame it was so hot.  I helped Bryan move during a heat wave, without air conditioning in the first location, the one that needed the most work.  He had roommates that trashed the place, including the the furniture most of which was ours/his.  I scrubbed & cleaned for days.

LOL.  I don't suppose going to Argentina would be a problem, it is what the SC Governor did in Argentina she might not like.

DR MattH, as much as I like The Young & The Restless, it is just average right now. I know you were interested in the new gay storyline. But i don't think that will be coming up for a while (my guess is with either nina's son phillip or her non-dead husband phillip).

The actor who plays adam is changing this week (which sucks to me), but the story that involves him and a gay kiss is most likely only a heterosexual gay trying to prey on his gay lawyer. Not sure if that interests you.

A "heterosexual gay"?  ???

I have met a lot of those.

Most gay men become heterosexual when I meet them.

Thank goodness for the internet!  When I went to see the movie THE LEGEND OF LYLAH CLARE back in 1968 or 69, I sat through the whole film with this overpowering sense of deja vu.  I kept asking people if that movie was a remake, because I swore that I had seen it before.  No one ever remembered hearing or seeing it before.

When elmore posted that clip from LYLAH CLARE, I googled around and sure enough, the film was based on an episode of Dupont Show of the Week from 1962.

For once in my life I am not crazy!

I think DRs JRand58 and MBarnum will be thrilled that my friend Daniel is borrowing my DVD of THE QUEEN OF OUTER SPACE, so I'm taking that with me when I leave.

Don't forget to tell Daniel that I am a personal friend of the Queen's.
