I began with the movie HANCOCK which was recorded off Starz-HD. It was OK. A surprise or two. Not a great movie.

Then I watched MY LIFE ON THE D-LIST from Monday night. Kathy spent much of the hour with (ugh) Paris Hilton, so all of the activities were completely brainless and a waste of her (and my time). Her (Kathy's) mother's exploration of Facebook was kind of fun.

I KNEW the Michael Jackson situation would be this way. There has been a front page story in the local newspaper on him every day since the death.

DES MOINES -- The world-famous Iowa State Fair butter cow will share the spotlight this year with a salute to the late Michael Jackson. Both pieces will be on display in the Agriculture Building's 40-degree cooler throughout the fair, Aug. 13-23.

Butter sculptor Sarah Pratt of West Des Moines plans to honor Jackson's extensive contributions to the music and dance industries through a butter sculpture of the pop icon. This year's butter bovine will be a jersey cow.

Michael Jackson danced on to the Iowa State Fair Grandstand stage Aug. 29, 1971, as a member of the Jackson Five. Alongside his brothers, Jackson turned out two exceptional performances to the delight of 17,000 fair-going fans.

Today, nearly four decades later, he is remembered as a pop-culture icon whose music reflected the passion and creativity of a new era. As the world mourns the loss of such a skilled and exceptional entertainer, the Iowa State Fair would like to celebrate the King of Pop and commemorate the ways his contributions have transformed American music and dance.

I left tonight's RESCUE ME on the DVR to watch while I ate lunch tomorrow. So, I took BONES - Season Two off the shelf and watched the episode with the body found in a bathtub full of lye. This was the episode that put Seely and Cam back together for a run of episodes.

We had a great time seeing Angela Lansbury in Blithe Spirit tonight. I liked the other cast members, too, and the set and mood music. Afterward, we went to Junior's and the hostess took us way back in the restaurant to what I thought was going to be a really crummy table. However, it was by the windows facing Shubert Alley, directly across from the Blithe Spirit stage door. There was a good sized crowd, but eventually a guy came out, talked to the crowd (we couldn't hear) and handed out what appeared to be autographed items. They all left and we were hoping that, then, Angela would come out, but even though we ordered a dessert to split (lemon coconut layer cake - yum!), she never did.

I also did get back on-line at my worksite and get the review posted that I worked on today. A few bumpy moments, but overall not too bad for a first posting.

One fascinating thing that has been mentioned in passing in some new reports is that Michael Jackson's fame came about long before the internet was in full swing, before MySpace, before Facebok, before Twitter. Even before iTunes! -And that no one has or could ever be that famous again. I actually think that's true. He really did break and reach across many boundaries.

When I arrived at rehearsal, I let myself in. I had given Tyson the AD/SM a set of keys to the rehearsal space to give to the set designer when they met earlier today.

I turned on the lights and what do you think? They had put up the platforms just as they will be ONSTAGE. So we had a great rehearsal with all of our levels! Once MARK OF CAIN is over, we can just move the platforms onto the stage.

The cast was most impressed and seemed to have a good time. The Barber Song and Golden Helmet of Mambrino turned out very nicely....so all in all a well spent rehearsal evening.
