Good morning, all! Another day with Jerome Moross, and pleasant company that is! My weekend is tied up with work: Liz Callaway, the PHI project, Moross, and Frank Loesser. When I get bored with them, I'll continue with my current reading. I'm on a ghost story binge, and I'm reading the collected stories of LeFanu, E F  Benson, and MR James, as well as the Oxford Book of Victorian Ghost Stories and the Oxford Book of Gothic Tales.

I believe I will see DRs Jose, Ginny, and Richard for dinner at Arties, and I believe that may be my only round of socializing for the weekend.

Jrand - I started taking fish oil pills again two days ago and haven't gotten used to them yet.  That may account for the retrograde thing you mentioned about my - oh, never mind, I see it was a general astrological comment, not about mine personally.

THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW has been out on DVD for quite some time in great condition though NOT BluRay....I have had it for years.  It is not in chronological order, so you have to skip around a bit if you want to watch it that way.

OOP, I guess - so maybe the new set will be cheaper.

The original issues of the DVDs looked superb in their day. I never, EVER thought I would own the complete run of THE JUDY GARLAND SHOW or have the outtakes that are also included on those releases. For fans of the legendary star, they are priceless.

I haven't watched any of them in quite some time; I practically wore them out when I first got them. And they were released in such a weird, haphazard way, but I finally got the entire set piecemeal.

For a fan and being able to get them in one set, it's a no-brainer.

Sorry I didn't drop by last night, but around 9:30 I simply could not hold my head up, so I put myself to bed and slept almost 10 hours. I haven't slept like that in decades, but obviously my body was sorely in need of such a long sleep.

I"m not sure exactly what you mean. I know they chose the couples (I think they said that on the first show). And i know the choose the dances. ANd i get how the featured dance (ballet) could go with the night before's ballet dance.

What i was wondering was how melissa (the ballerina) got the only ballet dance they've ever done. They always showed the couples pulling the dance randomly from a hat.

I don't think it would be fair for them to give melissa the ballet. However it might have been unfair to expect someone like phillip to do ballet. So i don't know if they made an exception for this dance??

I mean even if there is a hat there must be some way they make sure that dancers don't get the same style they've already had.

I did watch some things last night. I started with FOG OVER FRISCO, a 75-minute programmer Bette Davis made in 1934. She's top billed but gets killed halfway through the movie. Margaret Lindsay is really the star. And it turned out to be a sort of murder mystery, too, but the killer was really pretty obvious.

Friday morning greetings!  It's our last day here in NYC  :'( .  We're going on a 1:30 guided tour of St. Patrick's Cathedral, to dinner at Artie's with DRs Elmore and Jose (anyone else?), and to see MARY STUART tonight.  Early flight tomorrow...

I watched next week's episode of NURSE JACKIE from Showtime on Demand. The show is so good that I can't wait around for the next episode, and On Demand graciously obliges with the following week's episode once the original airs on Monday.

After that, I decided I wanted to see another POIROT mystery since I enjoyed MRS. McGINTY'S DEAD so much the other night.

So, I went to the Poirot shelf and selected DUMB WITNESS which obviously I had watched when I first got it, but I didn't have much memories of it other than there was the title character, a dog named Bob.

So, I got to play along with the mystery and try to guess the culprit. Unfortunately, after about an hour, my eyes got so heavy, that I just had to go to bed.

After I ate my oatmeal and read the paper this morning, I finished it, and got the murderer correct on the second attempt. (My initial impression was a character who died before the end of the film, so I got to guess again, and I got it right this time.)

I've already selected another POIROT title from the shelf to watch after my work project today. It's going to be TAKEN AT THE FLOOD. Looking forward to seeing another one that I have no memory of whatsoever.

Today's work project will be another Criterion/Godard film: 2 or 3 THINGS I KNOW ABOUT HER. Again, I've never seen it before, so I'm looking forward to watching it for the first time. There were some mentions of it in the bonus features of MADE IN U.S.A., so I do have some idea of what it's about.

There's a commentary track and a bunch of other bonuses, so I may not be able to do the entire disc this afternoon.

We staggered through Act II last night with scene changes, and I had my first night in "the pit."  The good news is, despite the tiered levels I mentioned here a long time ago, sight lines were actually much better than anticipated.  The bad news is, the director had decided to only pull up one stage panel, so my view of the stage was severely limited.  The actors actually complained, as they could not see me either, so he relented and they will pull up the side panels for tonight.  The other bad news is the sound designer is "too busy" right now (despite us opening next week--oy), and we had no monitors for either us or the playbacks.  It was just insane.  But we finished.

I noticed I had a "missed call" on my cellphone from 2:00am last night. After doing a reverse look-up, I found out that it came from the Brooklyn Hospital Center.  I hope everyone is all right.  ???

I'm up.  Once again, I decided not to get out of bed when the loud noises began at seven (of course, seven is always the loudest - once an hour goes by, then the loudness dissipates a bit).  So, I'm up, have read through various and sundried e-mails and shall maybe do the long and/or shorter jog.

I have some questions about SHOW GIRL, but they may be answered on The Radio Show, so I will listen to it this weekend, and THEN ask said questions.
