Has anyone done "Blu-Ray for Hollywood" - actually it sounds like it could be a Variety headline.

I'm sorry to hear about Walter Cronkite.  We sure could use someone like him again on the news.

Keith & I were saying how lucky we were to have grown up with him doing the news.

I can remember watching him when I was a sprig of a twig of a youth.

The regular episodes run a tiny bit over 49 minutes.

Just out of curiosity, what is the "yield" on an hour-long program today?        :-\

I remember that the TV Sirens I worked on (15 years ago!!!) the syndicated version in the states ran with all the credits 40 minutes!!

The Canadian network version has a couple of extra scenes and ran a few minutes longer. It usually was a scene at the end of the story

They run around 43-44 minutes including opening and closing credits.

I wrote the play using the pages program that came with the MAC and saved as a PDF to print it out at work. It looked fine on the MAC screen, but printed out terrible. Margins all over the place. Couldn't figure out what I did wrong. My co-worker told me that PAGES is an terrible program to use.

This is surprising to me, but I've trying to read up on what I may have done wrong but to no avail. PAGES I thought had screenplay/play template but I cannot find it again.

So what I did I spent the balance of the evening and tonight transferring the play to my PC which has my Final Draft program and using that.

I tried to "migrate" the program to my MAC but having problems doing that. I deactivated the program to do the transfer, but for some reason I get all the files, but the application in the transfer. And I don't want to pay $2.50 a minute to find out how to do it.

And of course tomorrow is my first reading.

I am pretty sure I over wrote. As I did this over a period of a month. Each of the seven scenes are self contained and can be parred down to get the show to a reasonable running time. I will video tape the readingso I can sea and hear what needs to be done.

I will probably read the stage directions which are very limited at this time.

Of course it just might be perfect and I will be opening the play at the Helen Hayes Theater this fall.

Re. The Emmy Nominations

I see Carol Burnett was nominated for an Emmy for her guest performance on Law and Order: SVU. I thought the role was over done, but I knew that she would be nominated. However her fellow guest co-star did a much better job (his name escapes me but played Shaggy in the Scooby Doo movie) and had a wide range of emotions as to Burnett's character. I think Burnett was nominated not for the performance rather than her playing a role she hadn't done before.

I meant ti mention that two other actresses were nominated for guest performances for SVU Brenda Blthyn (I don't think I saw this episode) and Ellen Burtyn (which I did) I missed the opening and didn't realize she was on it and didn't recognize at first. She was so good and was everything Burnett wasn't

Of course this is my own opinion and I love Carol Burnett I just think her director failed her

The voice over category is strange too.
One nomination is for narration of a program and the others are voicing cartoon characters,

There used to be a category for voice animated characters and never saw this as a voice over. They really are acting with the voices like they used to do on radio.

Looking at the major categories (programs and acting) I realize how few programs I have actually watch this last year and this is from someone who worked in the industry. I have really lost most of my interest in tv and films I think theater is where its at for me (I always enjoyed acting in theater more than film or tv)

So I am as I said earlier I am looking forward to my comeback.

I would love to see a brand new Blu Ray release of the original Lost Horizon. With all the new technology these days I am sure they could do wonders what they have and make it even better

This week, my dvd watching has been a mixed bag:
I have watched every episode of TORCHWOOD CHILDREN OF EARTH, which I found to be one of the finest series ever aired.
Then, I spent my time watching TORCHWOOD's first season, and there's the mixed bag. . .some great episodes, some stupid episodes, but always entertaining.
Tonight I shall begin TORCHWOOD season two. . .

Did you love the episode in season one where Jack Harkness meets Jack Harkness as much as I did? I still have it on my DVR and rewatch it occasionally because I think it's such a beautiful story and with very touching performances.

Another American institution is gone. R.I.P. Walter Cronkite. I wasn't old enough to realize the impact for those who grew up with Edward R. Murrow when he died, but folks must have felt the same way then as we do with Walter's passing.

Somebody posted the musical of Lost Horizon on You Tube. (In various 10 minute parts) I haven't compared it but the first 20-30 minutes looks like a scene for scene / shot for shot of the original.

The cut musicals numbers have shown up as separate clips, but I am not sure if they are in the movie posted .

There is also a clip with Peter Finch singing in his own voice.

Still looking for the infamous reprise of Living Together with Maria (Olivia Hussy) dancing with muscle men in a ring around a rosie type of dance. It is referred to later in the film by Sally Kellerman right before All The Thing I Will Not Miss.

I met Olivia Hussy when I was working on The Jeweler Shop (or something like that) written by Pope Pau II. During the lunch break I ask her about Lost Horizon.  What Were You thinking when you did the movie" She said "The Paycheck". She also said that more people ask her about Lost Horizon than Romeo and Julliet
