I finished THE LOVE BOAT tonight before having the rest of the evening for myself. The first episode had Sonny Bono as a KISS-type rock star who wanted to be a ballad singer and who falls in love with a deaf girl. Also paired as a love couple in this episode was Charlie Callas and Jill St. John!!!! Typecasting, eh? NOT! Peter Lawford and Dana Wynter played a married team of mystery writers.

In the second episode, Cyd Charisse and Craig Stevens played long ago lovers separated by WW II and who were reunited on the Love Boat. During the course of the show, Cyd sang "I'll See You Again" (poorly) in her own voice. Also on hand were Charo (making a return appearance from season one) and Stiller and Meara as a married couple with six children (one of whom was a very, very young Corey Feldman).

And the season finale found Ken Berry and Beth Howland together, Nanette Fabray and Barry Nelson finding out they were going to have another child after six children had grown up already, and Ethel Merman and Bob Cummings as Gopher's parents.

Bob Cummings looked completely out of it, obviously reading lines off cue cards out of camera range, and late in the show had to sing "Sonny Boy" which he raced through with no attention to timing or phrasing of the song. He must have been in really bad shape when this show was filmed.

When I finished my work, I watched last night's rerun of THE MENTALIST which had Patrick squaring off against a psychic who revealed some hurtful layers under his polished surface.

Then I watched two episodes of VERONICA MARS from the first season.

In the first show, Veronica was hired to find the school's parrot mascot which had been stolen before the big basketball game with the school's crosstown rivals. Fun episode with a surprising perpetrator.

And I closed out my evening viewing with a second VERONICA MARS episode. In this one, she was trying to find out who was sabotaging the school valedictorian from studying for her midterms and potentially losing her class rank. Not as good a case, but the underlying investigation on the death of Lilly Kane revved up quite a bit with this episode.

Since I got nothing new to review today, it looks like I'll have yet another weekend free of work responsibilities. I suppose something could come in the mail tomorrow, but I'm not counting on it.

Good Evening!

...About half-way through Mahler's "Symphony No. 1", Alan Gilbert motioned for the orchestra to stop playing, and then they announced that would be stopping the concert for the evening.  Ah, well.

However, I did have a great time out on the Great Lawn. I ended coming across a friend of mine I hadn't seen in a while, and since he had already "camped out" a great space close to the front, well... :)

I did get to hear Nathan Gunn warm up - he was in very good voice - and the Copland songs made up the first half of the program.  -I thought tonight's programming was a little weird: the Copland set (20 minutes), Intermission, and then the Mahler (55 minutes).  But, in the end, it all worked out.  We got all of the Copland and about half of the Mahler before the rain started.

*And it was a nice, warm, gentle rain. I didn't even use my umbrella while walking out of the Park. :)

DR MattH - Patrick Labyorteaux - or "Laborteaux" as he was sometimes billed - was also on "Little House on the Prairie". His brother, Matthew, was also on the series.

DR Michael S - Yes, "Pages" can be quite the mess of a program, however, if the PDF preview looked good on your computer screen, it should have printed out properly. Are you sure you have the right - and updated - printer driver installed? Did you try to print out anything else? I also know that sometimes a loose printer cable can cause printing issues.  Just unplug/plug the cable, then try another test print.

I never watched the show, so that's interesting. Thanks for the info. I had never heard of him until I started reviewing the seasons of JAG on DVD (didn't watch the show when it was being broadcast), so I had no idea he had been a child actor.

I guess someone has mentioned that the Deep Discount sale is finally underway. I didn't have a ton of things I wanted to get, but there were a few items I ordered this morning. The usual sale codes apply this time, too.
