Good Evening!
...About half-way through Mahler's "Symphony No. 1", Alan Gilbert motioned for the orchestra to stop playing, and then they announced that would be stopping the concert for the evening. Ah, well.
However, I did have a great time out on the Great Lawn. I ended coming across a friend of mine I hadn't seen in a while, and since he had already "camped out" a great space close to the front, well...

I did get to hear Nathan Gunn warm up - he was in very good voice - and the Copland songs made up the first half of the program. -I thought tonight's programming was a little weird: the Copland set (20 minutes), Intermission, and then the Mahler (55 minutes). But, in the end, it all worked out. We got all of the Copland and about half of the Mahler before the rain started.
*And it was a nice, warm, gentle rain. I didn't even use my umbrella while walking out of the Park.
