Some denominations assign ministers. Some denominations have the local congregations hire their pastors. The minister comes to see the church and see the congregation and preach a sermon.

A bad connection of pastor and chuch can be difficult for both sides.

Do pastors normally have to audition for their jobs?

As the character "Bones" sings in SISTER ACT, "I ain't no pastor, I'm a stone cold master of romance."

Good evening, I am back home with Callie and Boo.  I had a good time last night at the reunion. There was a good turn out and we did this grill your own steak thing that actually worked out great.

This morning I got up and painted my parents dock.  a couple other family members had promised several times to do it, but because of weather and just not getting it done, it didn't happen.  So, now that summer is mostly over, it's looking really nice, lol.

Then the excitement of the day was when a friend brought over a late birthday present for me.....it was a Mentos geyser shooter thing a ma bob.   So we went outside, hooked it on a bottle of soda, put in the Mentos, pulled the string and had a little geyser.  It was pretty cool.  We had 2 bottles of soda, so we did it twice.    I don't have the photos yet, I was too busy shooting it off, but I should be getting them soon

Have now finished five episodes of Lost, Season Two and was sad to see

SPOILER

that one of my favorite characters, Mr. Eko, has been killed off.  And now we suddenly have a couple of new and boring characters who've suddenly appeared - members of the crash who, I guess, have been lurking in the background.  Of course, I don't really think they were lurking anywhere, but now they're part of the cast and I suppose we'll be seeing more of them.  I find it odd, because I'd much rather have more Mr. Eko, and even more Shannon.

Which reminds me, I didn't take too many photos this weekend, but really should import the ones I have from the camera.

Tonight I'm watching the finale of The Next Food Network Star.  I'm cheering for Melissa but would be fine with Jeffrey.

Then it's Design Star and the White room challenge.  I like this one because it really shows the designers personalities.

The friend who gave me the Mentos Geyser shooter is the same one who gave me the Holy Toast cookie cutter.  Gotta love a friend like that!

Sunday evening greetings!  We've been to Lima for church, Sidney for lunch, and Kettering to visit Richard's brother.  I had to have a nap when we got home, because I'd been awake since 4am (too much to think about).  Now, like DR Cillaliz, I'm going to get a snack and watch the Next Food Network Star finale.

I am assuming that there is still no change in John's condition?

TOD - Anna Karenina.  I totally faked it in college and got a little farther reading it a few years with Oprah.  Maybe I should try once more - third time's the charm?

Only Richard went into the ICU yesterday and today and he didn't see any change.  John's youngest daughter, though, posted on Facebook earlier today that he's responding to simple commands - slowly, but responding.

Thanks for asking and to you and DR Vixmom for the continued vibes.

I remember that we had to read SILAS MARNER in high school, but I do not remember one thing in the book or any other character besides Silas.  That is sad.

I just remember the roller coaster ride that I took last fall with my friend Stan.  I continue to pray for a better outlet for John.

What is really sad is that I remember miniscule details that happened to me when I was four and five years old, but I can't remember a single plot point of a book I read in high school.

BK - have you seen the movie TAKEN?  Maggie Grace (Shannon) is in it.  It's a better film, and a better performance than THE FOG's remake.

I bought and tried some Greek Gods brand ice cream the other night.  It was on sale in the yuppie grocery store that I can't really afford to shop.  The flavor I had was not exactly my favorite.  It was Honey Pomegranate, which was not my first choice.  I wanted the Baklava flavor, but they were sold out.

The other flavor that I purchased I was really offended by the name of it.  In fact, I asked to see the manager and when he came over I said that although I understood the homosexuality was often assoicated with the Greeks; that I still felt the name of this flavor was offensive to gay men.  That is when the manager pointed out that the flavor was Chocolate Fig.

Cilla, were you shocked at the number of old people who showed up at your reunion?
