Do teh kids today even know what a broken record is?

Kids today don't know the joy of playing an LP at 45rpm.

Those were splendid photos from the Fred and Skip bash, DR Vixmom. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Good morning!

I have a broken record of my own: another day in the 90s. Oy!

No matter WHAT comes in the mail today, I will be finishing CRIMINAL MINDS since I only have four episodes and some bonus features left to do. I'm hoping to be done with it this afternoon leaving tonight free for something fun.

I did watch one CRIMINAL MINDS episode this morning, and it's one of the season's best: a beautiful (yep, surprising to say but true) story of a serial killer with OCD who forms an attachment to a blind child. The marvelous Alex O'Loughlin played the killer, and it's a grand performance.

Definitely one of my favroites of the season thus far.

Another night that moved me closer to a more normal night's sleep. Still not there yet, and there's still some ache and discomfort, but this is SO much better than what I've experienced for the past month. I am keeping my fingers crossed for continued improvement (though my arm has ached more this morning than it has since the therapy).

It has finally cooled down in Manhattan. The high today is supposed to be 79 and the weekend will be cooler.

I'm a cranky old man when it comes to hot weather. I could never live in Arizona (sorry Laura) or Florida or other places where average summer temperatures are extremely high. Dry heat, schmy heat (or wet heat in the case of Florida). It gets hot in New York but at least I have Spring, Fall and Winter to look forward to.

For today's topic of the day suggestion:

How about this:

What is your single favorite song from a Broadway musical?

Though I mentioned "Old Devil Moon" yesterday as one of my favorites, I'd have to say "Losing My Mind" from FOLLIES is my all-time favorite song.

I'm up, and trying to decide about the gym.  That decision will take about forty minutes.

I've finished my morning surfing so I'll head down now and continue with CRIMINAL MINDS.

I'll be watching last night's LEVERAGE while I eat lunch.

Still trying to decide, but if I'm not out the door in ten minutes, I'm not doing it.

We have two seasons here: summer and not-summer. It is currently summer.

But it's almost over! It's the end of August! Only six more weeks to go!

Thursday morning greetings!  Rob arrived late last night with another load o' stuff from his apartment, stayed overnight, and is now about to unload his car.

DR Vixmom - thanks for the lovely photos from Monday's soiree at DR FJL's!

No cake - no love - no nothing.

However the cast did sing Happy Birthday to me during the intermission.

Our rehearsal was okay last night.  Things sort of fell apart toward the end, but I think it will be much better tonight.  I wore my costume and makeup and it all worked, so we shall see.

Some line problems for all of us here and there, but all in all at least the director didn't want to kill us all when we were finished.

So... I just need to spend a few hours here at the apartment getting some things in order, as well as one or two loads of laundry, and then I shall head down to Penn Station and grab the first available bus down to DC.  That's the plan for now.

Hmmm...

I wonder if retired librarians - in addition to current librarians - qualify for this...

DR Jrand - Four of us split the one slice of cake - and one candle - that was brought to my table last night.  However, I'm pretty sure I had enough champagne for both of us.  Salut!

Hmmmmmmmmm....DR MATTH asked a tough question.

I like so many - but if I had to choose a favorite, if I HAD TO.....it would be:

Love Look Away - Rodgers & Hammerstein, Flower Drum Song.

Of course Mr Guy Haines sang a lovely version of it....here is another:

Back from the gym - boy was it hard today, but I did my five miles - four a brisk run, and one a brisk walk.  Waiting for the "glow".
