Hmmm...I can't think of very many good questions, BK, but how about this...

"Kritzer Time" features a family that while obviously very loving, is also what might be termed today as slightly "dysfunctional."  Are the Kritzers and Gelfinbaums based very closely on fact, or did you decide to exaggerate for comic purposes?

I hope that's good enough.  Time to return chez moi, read a bit, and take a nice long nap.

By all means, try to hook yourself up to a copy of FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT. It's one of his least appreciated 40s efforts, and goodness knows why it hasn't shown up on DVD yet. It was Oscar nominated as Best Picture the same year Hitch's REBECCA won the award.

Mrs. Odets was the old lady neighbor upstairs who kept getting speeding tickets in her Nash.

I remember Margie buying that wrestler...didn't she end up as his manager in the ring?

MBarnum, Panni & Abie thank you.  I took Echo for a nice long walk yesterday.  I hadn’t planned to go out but the rain stopped and so we took a drive into town where the ground was dry. It was a lovely long walk, but just that.  I had to keep her on a leash, something neither of us enjoys.

Lulu I seem to recall Foreign Correspondent as enjoyable, but not great.  I would gladly watch it again, so I say yes see it.  Periodically AMC & TMC show it.  If you had TIVO you could get put it in your wish list to record next time it is on.

Hey, BK - question for the interview: if you can't get La Streisand to play Mitzi, how would you feel about Delta Burke? Underrated actress, actually. And physically, could work beautifully.

Over the weekend I saw Charles Pogue's relentlessly fascinating DOA, with Dennis Quaid and Meg Ryan. If y'all haven't seen this film, I can't recommend it highly enough. Of course, you'd have to commit to seeing it twice, as I did - once is a real E-ticket ride, and then you'll need to see it again to see How He Done It. When I grow up, I wanna write something like that.

And a big happy Birthday to DR Ann.

My daffodils are about to sproing open, ditto the hyacinths and all my other beauties here in the forest. Oh, what a lovely day!

Ann, Jed & TCB when you see Juliana in Millie, please find out if the show will be coming my way.  I can’t find that it is which I find very surprising.  If the show is in Seattle now, and will in L.A, where will it be in-between?  I would expect it to be in Grants Pass, Medford or both.

Quote from Bruce yesterday:
“I'm thinking we should do a Los Angeles get-together when Miss Juliana A. Hansen is in town to do Millie at the Ahmanson. “

I have two questions.  When will this get-together be?
And what about the get-together when I’m there in May?

TCB, you are just too wonderful for words!  I LOVE the smiley! :)

I am currently eating a Almond Joy easter egg for breakfast.  One can do such things on one's birthday, you know.  Calories don't count on birthdays.  Lest anyone fear for my health, I might add that I also had a nonfat yogurt smoothie drink.

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes...a more wonderful group of people I could never hope to meet.

Question for BK...and forgive me if this was already asked and I missed it...the school essay on words in Kritzertime was simply wonderful...was this based on an actual school assignment of your youth?

Yes, get-togethers all around - next week, in May, and when Juliana is here.  PennyO might be here for my April 10 signing, wouldn't that be yummilicious.  Keep questions coming - and ask about Bullshit! whether you've seen it or not.

MBarnum, what is your favorite episode of MST3K?

DR Lulu,

I think my favorite MST3K episodes are, in no particular order:

Sky Divers
Space Children
Horror of Party Beach
Gammera
Manos, Hands of Fate
Night of the Blood Beast
Werewolf

There are just soooo many good ones, but those are ones that I recall off hand laughing continuously through...with Sky Divers and Horror of Party Beach probably being to two funniest of those that I have seen. Of course I have missed many, many episodes. I sure wish someone would start showing the ones that played on Comedy Channel because I know there are many of those that I have not seen.

I do remember that Ring of Terror was the first one that I  ever saw. I miss that show!

Do you prefer Mike or Joel. I like both.

OK, you asked for it:

How did such a classy guy like you, Dear BK, get involved with a project with such an unseemly title?

Happy Birthday DR Ann!

Since 1986 I have been called for Jury Duty 6 times and served 6 times. I don't know what it is about me but every time my name comes up to be questioned, I end up on the jury. I have done civil jury duty twice (malpractice and labor-related issues), criminal jury duty (an assault late at night in the subway), two rounds of Grand Jury (at least you get to pick your shift, so I would always choose to go to the office early in the morning and go to Grand Jury in the afternoon) and my last was a Federal case involving discrimination against police officers involved in the Abner Louima assault trial from many years ago. I am sure, like clockwork, sometime this year I will be called. It has been 4 years since the Federal jury trial and since you are free from Jury Duty for 4 years after you serve (at least here in NY), my time will soon run out and I'm sure I'll be sitting in a jury box again. If only it were like it was on Law and Order (on which I did background work oh so many years ago).

MBarnum:  Joel all the way for me, baby!  All but one of the episodes on my "faves" list are Joel eps.

I discovered MST in 1989, and for four glorious years, Joel captained the Satellite of Love.  I watched off and on after the switch, but it just wasn't the same.  "Quality" isn't even the issue, it's a matter of someone you've grown to love being replaced.  The show was, for me,  just missing something after Joel's departure.

Unfortunately, I doubt the Comedy Channel episodes will ever be shown again, because the rights to the films are all snarled up.  Also, the idea of syndicating a two-hour-long show is unattractive to station managers.  However, there are lots of tape traders out there who may be able to give you a fix!  Try looking around www.mst3kinfo.com , for a start.

You want a Bullshit question...  I don't know if this works - toss it if it doesn't:
Do you find it more difficult to write material for performers with such a distinctive existing style and voice than for actors whose characters are basically your creations?
Or another way of asking the question might be... Is there a difference for you in writing comedy for performers with such a distinctive existing style and voice, rather than for actors whose characters are basically your creation?
