A possible idea, JMK: Perhaps you could replace the koi with some native fish. Maybe even an endangered species of fish.

Any woman who owns an indoor Olympic sized swimming pool should NOT be required to take a BUS to work.

No pictures were taken today.  I left the camera in my car and I didn't drive to the location.

No, that's the best part--just a goodly lawn area that we can easily fence for a dog run.  The rest is farmland or just native grasses/bushes.  This all may be premature as I haven't actually been inside yet and the place may be a wreck.  Plus it's not very close to any bus stops for Betsy's work commute which may necessitate some marital negotiating.  :)

A. Buy some goats
B. Hire a shofar chauffeur

I am back from taking my mother to the eye doctor, who told her that there's not much to be done for macular degeneration (not what she wanted to hear).  We also went to the local garden center, where she bought an amaryllis bulb, and to a local restaurant, where she bought lunch.  After I took her home, I went to visit my aunt, who's 10 years younger than Mom, but acts about 10 years older.

I need a drink.

Sure - like the Lost River Sucker:

In other news...

I finally met up with my cousin, Christina, earlier today.  She's back in town for a week or so visiting from Seattle - some work, some play, lots of boyfriend.  -Or something like that.  We ended up spending a good chunk of time walking around the Upper West Side - a part of town she hadn't explored yet.  So, while she shopped, I waited and/or approved/disapproved her clothing choices. ;)

*There were some crazy sales at Urban Outfitters, and she managed to walk out of there with a couple of nice items, all for under $30.  If they were not on sale, they would have cost here about $250.

And, yes, today was a "Federal Holiday".  No mail, no banks - although, some banks were open today, but "11/11/09" was not an "official banking day".  But, as others have already discovered, UPS, FedEx, etc., were open today.

As for egg salad: It's all about the proper ratio of chopped, boiled eggs to mayo.  The mayo should really just bind all the ingredients together, not drown them.  -Although, some people do prefer a "wetter" egg salad.

*And it's always puzzled me whenever I order an egg salad sandwich - or tuna or chicken salad sandwich for that matter - and it's prepared with additional mayo on the bread.

My mother used to distribute them when I was a young un' as part of the work with the American Legion and VFW. You put a donation in a canister and got a poppy.

When I first read this, I thought it said...

"...You put a donation in a canister and got a puppy."

Dr. Ruth was at the conference in Toronto.  She knows my DH; in fact, she refers to him whenever she sees him as "that big one."  I will leave you to draw your own conclusions.   :)

I think it was during a master class with pianist/accompanist/vocal coach, Warren Jones, where he stressed that singers should always do a word-for-word translation of the texts they are singing.  The classic example he noted was from Puccini's Madama Butterfly.  There is a moment went Cio-Cio San sings - at least in the literal, word-for-word translation - "What shall I do with a man like this?"  -Of course, when most sopranos sing that line, they usually make the typical geisha hand-gesture - which looks very much like the one Dr. Ruth is making in that pic.

I prefer it with extra mayo on the bread!

My first day of vacation.  I will not be returning to the salt mines until November 30.

And tomorrow you begin your Italian trip?

Indeed I do.

The important question: Is there a pond?

Mais oui, complete with koi.  It was the first thing that impressed Gabe.  :)

Could you put a shark in the pond?
