Well, I am back from seeing Kevin Spirtas' play LOADED, and, yes, he was naked, and alas, I sat in the front row. At one point when he threw his shoes across the stage, one of them almost ended up in my lap, but it did stay on stage, thank you, Jesus.
The play reminded me a lot of FRANKIE AND JOHNNY IN THE CLAIR DE LUNE (not the movie but the play) and that awful Lanford Wilson play BURN THIS, in which two characters get together, and I believe their relationship exists only in the mind of the playwright because I see no reason why two essential strangers would torture each other with their fucked up lives and that one of them at some point would get sick of the other psycho in the room and get the hell out. It reminded me a bit of Robert Patrick's very funny play T-SHIRTS about the generational gap in gay relationships, and I kept wishing it were T-SHIRTS.
That said, I thought both gentlemen, a young student in his early 20s and a man whose 47 yet claims to be 39 in online sex sites, were well protrayed and excellently acted. Both roles guaranteed the stars each a nude moment, a big emotional scene, and a crying jag, and both Mr Spirtas and Scott Kerns, who's pushing 29 and looks 19, were excellent.
I saw Kevin briefly after the show and met the very talented Mr Scott Kerns who deserves a huge career. You can check him out at scottkerns.com, DR TCB.
