The grocery store was crowded today, but it was not the madhouse I was fearing it might be. I got a turkey breast, so I'll be cooking that tomorrow for my meals over the next three to four days.

So sorry to read about doggie Bosco, DR MBarnum, but you just remember what a grand and glorious quality of life he's had all these years and don't fret about what's inevitable. You're doing all for him that's humanly possible.

Back from the jog to the mail place, which I calculate at around two miles, maybe a teeny bit more.  I had a few packages and am now almost all caught up with package delivery.  One of the packages includes my brand spanking new Kiss My ASS t-shirt.

The MIGHTY MOUSE set did indeed arrive today, but I had made up my mind I was taking a day off, and so I did. I'll start on it tomorrow.

I watched two episodes of THE MENTALIST after I got back from lunch with best friend John and his two kids.

The first episode concerned the murder of a movie producer. Among the suspects were his actress wife and his daughter and her bad boy boy friend. A pretty easy case to solve actually. Not one of Patrick's most sterling moments.

Well, I learned the CD of "E Y Harburg Revisited" was titled "Hold Onto Your Hats," which may be why I never bothered picking it up. If any DR has the CD, please let me know.

Much better was the second case concerning a couple under witness protection. The husband had ratted on the mob and was later found dead. Two federal marshals also figure prominently in the investigation.

I'm pretty sure I don't have that, but I'll certainly look when I go downstairs.

Then I watched BEETLEJUICE on Blu-ray. Beautiful, deeply colorful transfer, perfect for the cartoonish story and characters. I really enjoyed seeing it again. I wish Sylvia Sidney had been in much more of the movie.

I watched the first five or ten minutes of GIVE A GIRL A BREAK, the next Warner Archive purchase I had waiting for me in the stack. Just this little bit in, I can already tell that it's a better transfer than I LOVE MELVIN, but it's still not super sharp. The color looks OK so far.

According to my own personal list I have this CD. I won't be able to get to it until Saturday or Sunday when we get back to the City. Here is the Web site for Painted Smiles which lists Hold on to Your Hats as a complete score. It's No. 120 on the list.

A bonus? That's great. My husband has never received a Christmas bonus. Nor have I.

Christmas bonus?  What's that??

I have several cherche Sidney anecdotes about Frances Farmer.  Let's just say Francie wasn't at the top of Sylvia's Christmas list, lol.

Thank you all for the wonderful HHW vibes for Dog Bosco. Sadly, the vet called last night to inform me that his white blood cell count is too high and some other things are off. She thinks that he has a tumor in his spleen and his thyroid is a bit off....so we are going to treat the thyroid situation, and the other situation will just have to play out it's course.

At present Dog Bosco seem to feel and act fine, other then drinking LOTS of water and having an occasional incontinence problem while sleeping. But I can deal with that. the possibility of losing him will be tougher, but that is life and I am grateful for the years that I have had him and for whatever time we have left together.

Michael, I'm so sorry to hear about Bosco. :'(

Afternoon surf is now completed. I have some computer maintenance projects and then will shut this down and head downstairs for some hot chocolate tonight and more leisure viewing.

I just got in from my errands and my friend Mario Cantone is doing brilliant impersonations of Judy and Liza on THE VIEW. It's quite funny.

I got to the Rockefeller Center post office at 9 and there was literally one person at the counter. I mailed my packages and went up to the plaza to see this year's tree and I had an epiphany: I was looking at all the toy soldiers and angels and other decorations, and while I was watching the skaters, I realized that it took me 30 years but I've pretty much achieved everything I moved to New York for in 1979. I always knew I wanted to live anywhere but Middletown, Ohio, and throughout high school I would drag home photo books of Paris, Rome, New York, London and other places I hoped to visit at some point. While I'm not working in the theatre as much as I like, I have accomplished all of my goals in moving here, except being rich, and it was a nice Christmas present to realize that.

That's great!  Congrats, Larry!

:)

Just remember, there's only ONE thing left to do on your "To-Do" list now.  That's always a good thing.

True...but why did it have to be that one that's left for him to do?? ;)

We both have to perform Christmas Eve services tonight.  Meaning that we won't arrive at our place of family celebration until after 3:00 AM.         :(

OH!

And my streak of Twitter-Luck seems to continue...

Zagat was running a special contest for their NYC-based Followers.  They started a new ad campaign, and whoever took the most pictures of their news ads around town and posted them to Twitter would win.  Well, I won!  And it's quite a nice prize: a 1-year subscription to Zagat.com and a $200 VISA gift card!  Merry Christmas to me! ;)

*I'm actually wondering just who else entered.  I did a search on Twitter for entries/entrants and only came up with two other people.  -And those two people were the two runners-up.  -And one of them actually took pictures of various restaurant's Zagat ratings window cards, not their new ads.

Congrats on ANOTHER Twitter win, Jose!

But this is what I saw on my computer:

I came upon this lovely little poem and thought I would share it with you all...

'WINTER'

by Abigail Elizabeth McIntyre

Crap....It's Cold

The End

I didn't realize that there was supposed to be a picture!  It didn't show up on my computer.  When I quoted DAW's post, I saw that there was code for a picture (click HERE for the full sized picture), but it was different than what I'd ever seen before.  So, I experimented with the code in DAW's post and found that we can manually resize large photos!  Look...this is a normal ratio:
