If nay one is in the vicinity and can get their hands on a ticket I definitely recommend making the  the trip

We are home safe and sound from our lovely day in New York

It was bitter cold and the wind was really whipping so our planned walk down 5th Avenue before the show was more of a very brisk trot  - we raced past the windows at SAKS (which weren't very attention grabbing any way I am afraid) -  stopped in at St. Patricks's Cathedral where we warmed our hands on the Cardinals radiator behind the main altar - then stopped in at the American Girl Store - we were both greatly disappointed by the recent changes.

The theatre is gone now and the magic seems to have worn off - or maybe we are just too grown up now - but it no longer seems the fun  "girls club"  just another store,,,,,

You're right, DR vixmom. "American Girl Place" has become just another big corporate toy store.  I was really surprised to see - and to find out - that the original "American Girl Place" in Chicago had also been stripped of its charm and homespun appeal (which usually justified the $100 price tag for the dolls).

And now with the closing of the Disney Store on 5th Avenue, well... More business and crowds for FAO Schwarz's flagship store I guess.

I had a delightful time tonight revisiting GLEE'e episodes. I got the first eight finished today plus about 1/3 of the ninth episode ("Wheels" which has the wonderful "Dancing with Myself," "Defying Gravity" sing-off, and (I think) "Proud Mary.") I will easily be able to finish it up tomorrow and maybe have some time left over in the evening for some leisure viewing.

After the show we met dear Elmore and hurried down to Broadway Joes where the lovely Edi and her Greg joined us

The food was good, the company wonderful and the conversation reminded me how much more interesting everybody else's life and job is! '

I am truly grateful that you let boring me hang out with you and that you share your stories with me and mine!

Jose - today as they were taking names for the lottery they said that those whose names were not drawn would have an opportunity to buy tickets at a discount price....

Thanks for that update, DR vixmom.  Last week, they were also drawing extra names for the standing room slots if the show was sold out.  However, it's sort of surprising - well, not really - that today wasn't sold out too.  I guess "everyone" is waiting until next week now.

I'm glad that you and the vixter enjoyed the show.  I am looking forward to seeing the show next week, even though I'm pretty sure I'm going to be a blubbering fool as soon as the music starts up.  I'm so happy that my friends got an extra week on Broadway.

*I also just remembered that my dear friend, Anne Kanengeiser, appeared in the original Broadway production. She played the woman who finds the baby (among other roles), and she was also Marin Mazzie's understudy.  I still have the copy of the music - "Goodbye, My Love" and "Back To Before" - she was given for her original callback which I coached her for.

PT went very well, my extra day & money were not wasted.  he showed me a new exercise i will eventually do at home, once he feels it is safe for me to do it unsupervised.  since i accidentally dropped my arm, which he thankfully caught, i will be good & wait for his ok.  i did very well with the stretch for the exercise, getting about half way to the distance i eventually will stretch & should succeed going the full distace.  that is the good news, the bad news is i will never be permitted to stretch farther because of the implant.

DR vixmom - If they are still up next weekend, and if the temps are a bit more temperate, I highly recommend coming back into the city for a few more hours to check out the store windows, especially those up at Bergdorf-Goodman and Lord & Taylor.

Finished watching one motion picture and may go for another.  I wrote a little over eight pages - I'm still finding my footing - I think once I'm in the book proper (after this prologue), then it will be easier.

I meant to ask you - what roles did your friends  have in this performance?

Mark Aldrich - Willie Conklin
Tracy Lynn Olivera - Brigit
Donna Migliaccio - Emma Goldman

My friend, Jeff, is also playing Bass in the orchestra.  They brought him up from DC too with the production.

Darling, dearest vixmom, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence and there are days I'd happily trade my hanging-on-by-the-nails lovelorn existence for a steady job and home and family. But not very often, I hope.

In other news...

I ended up back in Carytown earlier for a bit of strolling and wandering and eating (of course).

I started off at Carytown Cupcakes.  They just opened back in October. I had stopped in before, but had yet to try their cupcakes.  Well, today, I tried their cupcakes.  :)

I opted for two of their "Classics": Hummingbird and Red Velvet.  Both were very good, but I did think they were taking advantage of the still-going cupcake craze by charging New York City/Magnolia Bakery prices.  -And coupled with the still-outrageous City of Richmond prepared foods tax... $6.11 for two cupcakes.

We got two tickets after dinner and saw the show. Fabulous. The first time I think I've ever seen an audience in tears leaving a musical!

I had hoped to take a leisurely stroll up and down Cary Street/Carytown, but once I realized that I had left my knit cap in my other bag... And since it was quite gusty outside today... And since I also noticed that "Where the Wild Things Are" was playing at The Byrd... Well... I high-tailed it down to Starbucks for a mocha to warm me up, then back up to The Byrd to catch the movie.

A rather nippy day to be walking 50 blocks...especially when the wind chill is 2 degrees and we don't have proper winter clothes. But never let it be said us Southerners are wimps. We walked the highline. Maybe we're not wimps, just stupid!

I went to Gelson's and had a little Chinese chicken salad and a little potato salad to snack on, whilst I finished a the extras on the movie I"d watched.  Then I wrote another couple of pages - somehow I did over ten pages again today.  Even though I'm still finding my footing, I am having so much fun, and as I write, so many images and memories come back to me.  And I figured out the best approach to the prologue was to telescope my year in NY, since it's not really part of the book proper, but does set up a number of important things.  So, instead of going into a lot of detail, it's more like jumping from thing to thing.  Only a couple of times do I spend a page or two talking about a specific event and that seems to be working well.
