Meal Report Meal Report Meal Report Meal Report!!! :)

Appetizers:

Assorted cheeses (double cream brie, mildly smoked gouda and some other chese whose name I forget)
Guacamole (a weird family holiday tradition) with nacho chips
Fresh fruit

Main Courses:

Crown roast of pork with apple stuffing (for some of the family)
Traditional baked ham with orange-brown sugar glaze (for others)

Side Dishes:

Asparagus with lemon sauce
Traditional mashed potatoes
Sweet potatoe purée with roasted garlic
Corn
Hot homemade rolls
Brocolli
Regualr gravy for the roast pork
Curried fruit sauce for the ham

Desserts:

Coconut cream pie
Pineapple squares
English fruit trifle

Tea, Coffee

I am so unable to move right now.  Ergh...

After dinner my ENTIRE family (13 rather large people) crowded around our tv set to watch the third game of the Montreal-Boston hockey playoffs.  It was an amazing game and the Habs won after some INCREDIBLE play!  Yippee!  My sister and her boyfriend are going to the game on Tuesday and I am so jealous of them.

I hope you all had a great Easter (whether it has any religious significance for you or not... )! :D

Never saw you look quite so pretty before.
Never saw you dressed quite so lovely, what's more.
I could hardly wait to keep our date this lovely Easter morning,
And my heart beat fast as I came through the door for:

(and most of you know the rest)

Sure we do!  Everybody:

It's raining men!
Hallelujah, it's raining men!
Amen!
It's raining men!
Hallelujah, it's raining men!
Amen!

Hey.  Not only doesn't he read the notes, he skips the posts, too.  The guilt he's dealing with right now, I dare say, is punishment enough.

EASTER PARADE is a joyous musical, one of my very favorite MGM musicals of all-time. I am still bitter Judy got no solo number during their big show (of course, she got "Better Luck Next TIme" singing to an audience of one, the always grand Clinton Sundberg), but it's still a terrific musical. Yep, Ann Miller's costumes are breathtaking, and she wears them beautifully. Notice how Judy's weight seesaws during the picture? Doesn't matter, she's always fabulous whether pudgy or thin.

I finished LA MANCHA and put in the Criterion DVD of THE MOST DANGEROUS GAME. I used to teach the short story every year (it was ALWAYS anthologized in our literature books), but I had always managed to miss this old movie of it. Only got as far as the beginning of the hunt, but will finish it tomorrow.

Yes DRMATTH I did notice her weight up and down this time, never really paid much attention before.  I also noticed what a really nice acting job Judy and Peter Lawford did in the restaurant scene when he tells her he loves her, and she tells him she loves someone else.  Majority of it done in one take.....nice scene.  And of course Peter has that paralyzed right hand so he always uses his left hand for action and holds something in his right.....

Had myself a wonderful Easter brunch at my grandparent's house.  Delicious ham, Greek Easter bread (a little light on the anise this year, I felt), all sorts of fresh fruit, eggs in both scrambled and boiled form, with some lovely mimosas for liquid refreshement.  And, yes, I did have myself a little chocolate rabbit!

Tons of unsolicitied vibes to my dear cyber-father!

Spent the weekend with Gord's family. And yes, I finished Kritzer Time. I didn't want it to end - and it won't. It's a book that I know will stay with me.

Jose - good health vibes.

And Majormost Vibes to TCB.

And EASTER PARADE features a fleeting glimpse of Ms. Joi Lansing as one of the hat models...back when she was known as Joy Lansing.

Just finished watching FUNNY FACE...now Fred Astaire might have been a bit too old for Judy Garland...but he is way too old for Audrey Hepburn!! But still it is such a fun movie, and those gowns are knock-outs!!!!!

yesterday (urp) was a day of starch and fat, like any good Jewish food day (grrrp...uh). Very touching moment when my 95 year old father got all weepy cuz he had his four children and 5 of the 7 grandchildren around the table. He remembered being the youngest (4) kid at the orphanage when he learned the 4 questions by rote, so he could ask them. He still remembers the words.

So, my darling bk, sorry I missed your book signing - I would have loved everything about it, the food, the guests, the music and fun, all of it! but I wouldn't have missed what was probably my dad's last seder for anything.

Jose, feel better. Sunshine and lilies of the valley to ya!

We went out to dinner for Easter this year (my grandma, grandpa, great aunt, aunt, and me). I had Insalata Romana--Caesar salad, Potato Gnocchi (we all split two servings of it), Pollo Toscano with mashed potatoes and julienned zucchini, squash, and carrots. I finished with a chocolate soufflé topped with vanilla gelati. Outstanding food, very tasty server!
