Sunday afternoon greetings!  When we left for Lima this morning, it was still dark and barely above 0o and it was much colder and snowier 2 hours north.  Now that we're back home down south, we're basking in balmy temps in the low 20's (with a wind chill of 15.  At least the sun's out.

Speaking of Green Pastures, has the film THE GREEN PASTURES ever been released on video or DVD?

Yes.  I used to have a copy.

Is Greeen Pastures a restaurant?  It sort of sounds like an old folks home

Today I made some pasta with scrambled eggs like the pasta mama I saw on tv last night.  It was really good.  I also made a big pot of chili.  It's actually pretty low calorie wise and I can make it last for several days.

LOL!
  I used to live in a mobile home park (not a trailer park) called Shady Haven.  All my firends said that it sounded like a funeral home.

As I mentioned in an earlier post today, it's a former plantation house that was owned by the Faulk family.  It's very elegant.

Just spent the last ninety minutes making adjustments and fixes on what I wrote yesterday.  I think it seems to be okay, and I fleshed out a few things and added some descriptive detail to a few things.  Again, I'm trying to just do a highlights of a whole year, and move along to the book proper, but, as I've said, so many seeds were planted in that year that I have to talk about them.  Then I wrote two new pages, and will probably write another two to four pages, since I wrote so many yesterday.  Then I'll probably get them to muse Margaret tomorrow.

DR DtM - The Dream-O-Matic 6000 says that you are more interested in reading than in writing, even though writing intrigues you.  What others think of you gives you pause about what you say - though NOT about what you think.  You also see what you do for a living as a practical drudgery rather that is stifling much of your creativity.

Hmmm...very interesting, DR JRand.  I'll need to ponder on this...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Computer Vibes for DR George! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks, Larry!  When I had my old computer in "safe mode," I couldn't get to the Internet, but when I shut it down, it stayed off.  That's a good thing.
It is the last day -- SOB! -- of my vacation which began Dec. 9.
Just the thought of going back makes me want to extend the whole thing by one week!
Happily, I have more than enough vacation time to do such a thing.
Unhappily, it would be unconscionable to ask for, much less expect, such an extension.
Perhaps I can take Friday off instead....hmmmmmm!
Yep, today is my last day of vacation, too.  And I do not feel like going back tomorrow at all.  I can honestly say that I do not miss my work (though I do miss some of the people I work with.)  So the Dream-O-Matic 6000 is not off the mark.  Ah, well...
I believe GREEN PASTURES was released a few years ago. I didn't get it, but seems like I remember it was released.
I did manage to watch one episode of THE MENTALIST. This is the one where Patrick was blinded by an exploding car and then is at the mercy of a killer who's stalking him. Good episode.
Otherwise, I spent the rest of the afternoon watching GLEE. I did manage to watch the rest of the episodes, but I didn't get to any of the bonus features (and there are quite a number of them.) I'll be doing those when I go back down. But I can finish up the other portions of the review.
Just wanted to remind folks that starting tonight, we're back on a modified schedule of some new episodes each night. Not every show will be back at full force yet, but keep eyes on cable guides and TV listings in case your favorite programs are back up with new episodes this week.
For me, BROTHERS & SISTERS has a new episode tonight.
Free-for-all Day
I know we have had this as a topic of the day before, but since BK brought it up;  What is everyone's favorite Stephen King film adaptation?
I think my choice would have to be THE STAND.  It is a miniseries, rather than a film, but I think it is the perfect length to cover that huge and complicated story.
My favorite Stephen King movie adaptation is "Misery."
Old news:  it's laundry day.
Hey, It's laundry day here too!   I have a ton of it to do.  My dryer vents into my garage, so I don't usually do laundry when it's this cold or when it's snowing etc so I an leave the door open.  It can't wait any longer so I'm doing it anyway
What a coinkydink...it's laundry day for me, three!
I don't think I've ever been completely satisfied by any King film adaption.  Some come close, like MISERY, FIRESTARTER, CUJO and THE DEAD ZONE, but miss the mark either through casting or story tweaks.  The cheesey special effects do in THE STAND and THE LANGOLIERS.
I did like the STORM OF THE CENTURY miniseries a lot, but that was written for television.
My favorite King adaptation is also THE DEAD ZONE.
I even liked the TV series for awhile.
On the other hand, I've never liked THE SHINING.
I hated THE SHINING when it opened and I saw it, but it's grown on me over the years.  Likewise, I do like DOLORES CLAIRBORNE, even though it's very different from the novel.
I think CARRIE is probably the most effective, but I also fall into the camp that has grown to like (actually love) THE SHINING years after the fact.
Now I'm going to write for a little bit, then I'll head downstairs, put away the folded laundry, and resume GLEE focusing on the bonux features now.
