It is still raining. It should continue to rain for the next couple of days. Expect wildflower photos shortly.

Looking forward to it!

We're now under an ice storm warning.  Everyone was leaving the building today with bags and boxes of work.  We're getting this take the office home for bad weather thing down pat

;D
safe storm & driving vibes!

I had set aside tomorrow as a research and writing day - no appointments or court dates, so if it's bad I'll work at home and if it isn't I'll work at the office. I've already told Edith if there is an ice storm, we are closed.

I went to the grocery store this noon and it was already packed full of people getting supplies for the ice storm.  I still laugh at the way we all run to stock up on supplies like we will be trapped for weeks.  It may be a day or so if it's really bad, but that's not how people stock up.   Of course I was there doing the same thing.  I am really hoping that we don't lose power.

Well.....watching all of these movies today, I have to say that Boris Sagal directed Elvis in what is a much better movie than I remembered it to be....GIRL HAPPY.

This is Elvis' first outing with Shelley Fabares, and it includes Nita Talbot, Gary Crosby, Jimmy Hawkins, and Mary Ann Mobley among others.  There are the usual misunderstandings, fights, and songs....but everybody is having a good time, and the songs are among the better ones in the mid-60's Elvis movie library.

Fabares even gets into the act dancing Ann-Margret like to "Meanest Girl in Town" (I don't think A-M would lose any sleep over the routine).

Nice job, everybody, and kind of a rediscovery for me GIRL HAPPY.....I know I saw it at the drive in!

I saw a little bit of it on TCM-HD, and it looked fabulous. The color was super-saturated.

I had an nice evening of viewing: part work and part fun.

I began by watching the four lengthy bonus features on the ROME OPEN CITY DVD. They were all interesting features, but one was a video interview with a Rossellini scholar who discussed Roberto's use of locations in the three movies in the set. The problem was that I've never seen the other two, and he gave major plot points about the films away including the ending of the third one. No big deal; I'm not one to get freaked out by spoilers, but I have to think that was a poor idea. Of course, I'll be sure to alert readers about this when I write up the bonus features.

After I finished my work project for the day, I watched last night's CASTLE. A good episode and a nifty mystery, but I was not surprised by the assassin's identity, not because of the clue slipped into the script but

because the guilty party didn't bother to give any description at all of the person the police were supposed to meet for the payoff. They went in blind not knowing what he looked like which, for me at least, would not be something I'd let an informer do and give him immunity for. It just didn't make sense unless he didn't want to describe himself.

I skimmed through today's soaps. ONE LIFE TO LIVE really got to Fish's potential fathering much quicker than I would have ever thought they would do, but I'm so glad they did it this way and not having Kyle sneaking around trying to get DNA samples to check against hospital records to determine paternity before he told Oliver what was happening. Having everything above board was much, much better, especially for their future relationship.

Then I skimmed through AS THE WORLD TURNS. Luke and Noah were on today, too, along with the doctor who's going to do Noah's surgery. Right now, the doctor despises Luke. I suspect that's going to change.

I ended my evening with tonight's NCIS rerun. Yes, it was an early episode from this season, but I honestly didn't remember much of it, and I enjoyed playing along with them as they solved the case.

I had the table for about twelve years.  I think in one of the moves the movers must have cracked that side of the table - a hairline crack you could see, but I didn't think there was any danger.  Anyway, I'm back and I bought a new black round wood table - simple and elegant - not as elegant as the marble, but that's fine.  This one is sturdy and it's attached to a very sturdy pedestal.  The pedestal on my old table was way too small and insubstantial and has always been a problem.  New table will be here in a week or so.  I first went to Restoration Hardware - they had one round table - I liked it fine but man was it expensive.  So, I told them I'd think about it.  Then on the way home I passed by a really nice furniture place on Ventura Blvd.   They were still open, so I went in - and there was this black table.  It was almost the exact same price as the other table with one key difference - this one was on sale at 50% off.  I couldn't pass that up and bought it.

TOmorrow my work project will be the second film in the Rossellini set: PAISAN, which, as I said earlier, I've never seen before. Looking forward to a new Rossellini experience.
