I don't know if this has been mentioned here or not, but I read this on another messageboard:

I don't know if this has been mentioned here or not, but I read this on another messageboard:

"Universal has announced a new Universal Vault Series of DVD-on-Demand titles that you can now purchase via Amazon.com, much like Warner's Archive program. The first batch of titles available includes Gold Diggers: The Secret of Bear Mountain (1995), A Good Man in Africa (1994), A Bronx Tale (1993), Pure Luck (1991), Shout (1991), Stick (1985), The Incredible Shrinking Woman (1981), Resurrection (1980), Blue Collar (1978), The Last Remake of Beau Geste (1977), Shoot Out (1971), Tell Them Willie Boy Is Here (1970), Gambit (1966), The Brass Bottle (1964), Kitten with a Whip (1964), The Chalk Garden (1964), The List of Adrian Messenger (1963), 40 Pounds of Trouble (1962), The Perfect Furlough (1958), The Black Shield of Falworth (1954), Dragnet (1954), House of Seven Gables (1940), Spawn of the North (1938), Death Takes a Holiday (1934) and Ruggles of Red Gap (1933). "

Several appealing films in that list. Did they speculate on what each movie will cost?

I just went there and answered my own question: list - $19.99  ;  Amazon price  - $17.99

I guess I'll hop off-line for a bit and get some writing done. Then I'll head back down to finish the bonus features on GERMANY YEAR ZERO and then start leisure viewing for the evening.

Wow - DR ELMORE it sounds like someone who NEVER used the service came up with a great idea.....and probably got paid a bonus.

It's the same way with people who design computers for libraries...they don't have to use it, so they don't care how cumbersome it is to use.  We're getting a whole new system in May and we're just now starting to learn about how different it is from what we have. :P

Is anybody else gonna watch/record the new ABC law show called THE DEEP END (i think that's the name)?

I don't have anything on at 8pm until SURVIVOR comes back on feb 11th. So I think I will give it a try (although i have heard nothing about it save for a few promos).

I'll either watch it or record it.  I don't think it'll be something that I would want to watch, unless the first show is absolutely spectacular...but then, Norbert Leo Butz is on the show, so we'll see. ;)

Hiya, gang.

What's the word on Der Brucer's ticker???

Historic period to hang around and write about: American Declaration of Independence, Jefferson, Franklin. Then, of course, whisk me away before the ensuing horrible years of war. Would also like to pal around with Mozart - I like singing his music, and hear he was a jolly, optimistic fellow.

Oh - saw Waiting for Godot the other night at A Noise Within. Here's my review:

nice review penny.

i'll email you the news on db

Much as I think the conductor will crash and burn, the folk involved don't need my negativity and dissension. I gambled on removing him and lost. Time to bail.

The Last Remake of Beau Geste!!  I haven't see this since I was a kid, but my sister and I loved this!  I'll have to see if it holds up.

Oh dear, I just consented to be one of the "professionals" in the Dancing With the Putnam County Stars competition....it's a charity event that raised almost more than $25,000 for the community last year....I turned them down last year....and I hate to do it two years in a row.  What if they stopped asking?

i hope I get a nice ballroom category.

Make sure you post pictures of the gown you'll be wearing!

I took advantage of the brief respite from rain and ran over to Hugo's for lunch.  As soon as I left there it started pouring again, so I obviously got there while the gettin' was good.

By the way, as I wrote weeks ago, The Black Shield of Falworth is available on Blu-Ray in the UK in a really beautiful transfer.

I'm glad I had the big pine tree assessed by an arborist -- just in case it comes down, I can prove to the insurance company that it was healthy.

Several appealing films in that list. Did they speculate on what each movie will cost?

I just went there and answered my own question: list - $19.99  ;  Amazon price  - $17.99

Some are as low as $14.99, including "Resurrection" (an absolutely mesmerizing film with tour-de-force performances by Ellen Burstyn and Eva LeGallienne, plus a superb Maurice Jarre score).

Watching some of the First Season episodes of the Adventures of Superman.....George Reeves had an amazing smile....although Superman didn't smile too much, nor did Clark Kent.

And I really like Phyllis Coates as Lois Lane....she was one tough cookie.

Rain has abated momentarily, just as it had two hours ago.  It abates, the clouds part, we have three minutes of sun, and then it's gray and pouring again.
