I got two more Criterion titles to finish out their releases for the month. HOWARDS END on DVD (already reviewed the Blu-ray a month or two ago) and that Leo McCarey film MAKE WAY FOR TOMORROW.

Well, I need to hop off-line and get some writing done. Then it'll be back downstairs to finish the remaining features on WALK THE LINE and then see how much TV I can get watched this evening.

DIVA TALK: Chatting with She Loves Me Tony Nominee and Good Ol' Girls Star Sally Mayes

From the second page:

Question: Any chance of another CD?
Mayes: Well, we've been talking about it a little bit. I have to find a label that wants to do it, because all of my labels seem to be kaput. I want to do a Christmas album before I hang up my vocal chords. [Laughs.] I think that would be really, really fun. Patrick Brady is my genius arranger and partner in all of the stuff we've done all of these years. We have so much fun. We're always coming up with ideas for Christmas stuff and going, "When we do the Christmas album…" [Laughs.]

And then she goes on from there.

I keep hoping that a certain label will put the catalogue for sale and we can all chip in  and buy it back :-)

Funny, I thought a switch referred to her hair, but then what is a farm girl doing wearing a hair piece?

I just posted about that. In 1900, every woman had switches and pads of rags under their hair to achieve those big do's.

Maybe she used hay instead of rags?

Not only am I not going to a Super Bowl party, I won't be watching the Super Bowl either.

If the half-time show had Curt Colfer leading both teams in a rousing rendition of "Singlegirls", might you tune in?

I don't think one has to love football to go to a Super Bowl party.  Even if you dislike the game there is always socializing, food and the commercials.

We have a great time at the Super Bowl Party. Lots of snack food and games. We only watch if our team is playing (which has been once), and even then, only if something exciting happens.

Back from an interesting lunch, most of which was fun after we got the stuff out of the way.  When the person saw that I wasn't going to be explaining myself or my reasons, and once I told her that if she was writing a book and I knew I was going to be in it, I would not do what she's doing, I'd just hope for the best, she seemed to be at peace with it.  She said that she didn't really care if it was bad or good, but that's just not so, obviously.  At one point she said, "Well, what if one of my friends reads it and says 'so you were in a relationship with Bruce tell me about THAT'" and I said, "Well, we can't wipe away history so if someone asks you about it tell them or don't, who cares?"  After all that, we had a very nice time.

John G, when do you begin the shots?  I did them years ago.  I had problems & never reached the full dosage.  They did help though & I eventually didn't need them anymore.  Will you have to wait 20 minutes after a shot to make sure you don't have a reaction?  I kept threatening to leave thinking it was a waste of my time, until the day I had a potentially dangerous reaction.  After that I was never tempted to split before the 20 minutes, nor was our son Bryan who also had shots.

DR Jane: I just had a Prednizone (sp?) shot today and some blood taken. I did three years of allergy shots and they only caused health problems for me, such as having to have my ears vacuumed (glad I don't have to have that done anymore). I'm allergic to Mother Nature, and that's about all there is to it.

I probably won't pay too much attention to the game Sunday, but I have had fun this week studying up on Cajun/Creole food from New Orleans and such Indianapolis favorites as sugar cream pie. In fact, I made one of those pies last night. It's a fairly incredible mixture of sugar and flour with cream and vanilla. Man, is it ever good.

Then why do you post under the name "Jane"?

I think if there are any more Lauras posting under aliases, it is best now to come out with it.

DR JMK - on Encore Drama, WILL THERE REALLY BE A MORNING is in rotation this month - I thought so, but I wasn't sure.  It was on twice today, and maybe even a third time later.

It does not improve with repeated viewings.  I don't know how Dalene Young got her teleplay from Frances' book - she obviously didn't - and it's creepy that every account of Frances life always spends two hours on Hollywood and Seattle and gives Indianapolis a postscript.

It's been raining all day.  I'm watching the two-hour season premiere of Lost.  I do hope it gets better or at least headache-inducing.

John G vibes the Prednisone works, and you don't have to stay on it forever.

You know when you record it you can fast forward through those.   ;D

I almost posted the same thing. But then figured he must be fast forwarding through them.

It's funny but Whoopi Goldberg had a similar rant saying there were so many commercials. She said she wanted to watch the show live.
But I don't really get that. I watched it when it was on. I just started 20 minutes after it started. So i basically just watched the show. No commercials. No waiting.

I think there may be a lot of food this Sunday. I'm not sure what else to bring. I know there will be KFC, chicken wings, chilli, spinach/artichoke dip.

I am quite impressed that many of the guys will be preparing their dishes. A few will be buying their stuff. But at least 2 of the guys will be making homemade dishes!

I know i am going to make crab roll-ups, and i have some shortbread cookies i made in the freezer. And some fudge. I may make one other kind of sandwich. I would normally make a 7 layer dip. But i figure since there will already be salsa and another dip I will probably just make something else instead.
