Correction, what I read had to do with the adaptation from novel to film.   I enjoyed the book but wasn't in love with it.

I liked the Almodovar film very much. I had no idea what it was about, and I liked it's mystery concerning a blinded film director whose movie within the movie appears to be the wonderful WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN. I really cannot stand Penelope Cruz in American films but she was wonderful in this.

But many times I have seen a cat put a dog in his place.

I've only watched the game since the middle of the third quarter, but I haven't seen any ads that I thought were that great

When I breifly turned on the half time and heard The Who singing "Let's get together before we get much older" (Teenage Wasteland) I had to burst out laughing - it's taken on a new meaning as they age

I followed the score with updates online.  If your team won or not, seems like it was an exiting game.

Had a simply wonderful time with THE MUSIC MAN. Looked wonderful and sounded great too in DTS-HD MA 5.1 Maybe as not instrumentation into the rears as I might have liked, but that's a nitpick; it's just marvelous. Yep, blacks are the weakest thing about the transfer, but they really don't affect the look of the rest of the image; it's just tremendous.

I agree with you completely about Penelope in English-language films. I think she's still very awkward and kind of hopeless in them. I have to say, however, that I have NOT seen her Oscar-winning work in VICKIE CHRISTINA BARCELONA. I was supposed to review it last year, but the company never sent me the Blu-ray, so I never saw it. Now, I'll have to catch it on TV some time.

After I finished THE MUSIC MAN, I decided I wanted to see the other great film musical of 1962, so I watched GYPSY.

All I can say is that I cannot wait for Warners to put THIS out on Blu-ray. Even on the DVD, the picture is sharp and quite luscious. And it has true blacks that are going to be scrumptuous in HD. Upconverted, I'd have to say that this is one DVD that can really stand tall with many Blu-ray transfers.

And after all these years, I finally realized that Ethel Merman is featured in the movie version of GYPSY! Don't know why it had never dawned on me before, but on the back wall of the stripper's dressing room, there is a caricature of Merman rather large and easy to notice in several shots. So someone thought that would be a clever in-joke to put that up in there (a stripper's dressing room).

I still had three TV shows and THE UNINVITED on the DVR to watch, but I just couldn't help wanting to see GYPSY again tonight after THE MUSIC MAN. I love both movies so much.

Oh, I guess since I've finished up that box of Fox discs, I can start back with my Criterion stack of discs now. Tomorrow I'll do the first of two I've never seen before, both on DVD: HUNGER.

The 4th quarter was actually quite exciting. Although most of the guys (at the party i was at) got so crazy re: the betting pool. They are all screaming out scores that will help them win the pot.

I was so close to winning the 2nd quarter pool. But one team scored with 30 seconds left in the half. :(

I didn't get to see all the commercials. It was noisy part of the time. And i had to get out food and put my niece to sleep.

But there were a few that people seemed to like.

There were some that men and my niece thought were funny. But my sister and i thought were stupid.

Megan Fox in a tub was a big hit.

The one with larry byrd and McDonalds was too.

A couple of the doritos ones were good. Some were dumb.

Everyone was laughing at the Volkswagon punching ad.
